Speedstream 4200 setup

Trying to set up 4200 on DSL. Am doing configuration with laptop plugged directly into ethernet port. I get both a DSL light, and an ethernet light.
Open IE, and have tried http://speedstream, http://10.0.0.138 etc, but cannot access modem setup to configure my broadband account.
I have the Speedstream manual.
Best I have achieved to date is "limited connectivity" after LAN setup to find IP address.

I have just set up 4200 with dsl - you may find that you need to reset modem before you can configure. I was told that you need either a grey or yellow cable from your laptop to the modem. I use 10.0.0.138 to access modem. The 4200 I have was from a bigpond a/c - originally configured accordingly.

To configure my siemens 4200 modem I enter 192.168.254.254 into the address bar of the internet browser. You should get a login screen that ask for your user name and password. Default user name should be admin and the password should be admin. I hope this helps you
