Question about Kitchen Ranges

FRIDGIDAIRE RANGE Electric 220V - oven was running heard a large pop and tripped a circuit breaker. I reset the breaker and everything on the range works except the oven and broiler elements. Elements are OK, no electricity to the obvious burnt out components and electronics say that oven is on. But they are not............. any help would be welcomed as Thanksgiving is approaching Quickly ------------ Jim

I had a similar problem last night with my Kenmore 790 flat-top range.  Oven was on, heard a loud pop and the main breaker tripped.  When I got the power back on the electronics that control the oven (eoc) didn't come back.  The burners on the range top still work, but the oven no longer does.
Everything I've read so far suggests that: 1) the most likely culprit is the EOC board and replacing should fix the problem; 2) this is a fairly common problem with ranges; and 3) my particular range was manufactured by frigidaire.

Do these sound like reasonable/accurate conclusions?

My Kenmore 790 range just had the same problem.  Was using the oven, heard a loud pop, which tripped the main breaker.  When I got the power back on, the electronics that control the oven were dead.  The range elements still work.

From what I've gathered, the most likely culprit is the eoc (electronic oven control) module and replacement should fix the problem.  Any advise/differing opinions?

It is most likely the pop came from a relay on the control board if the elements checked ok but not getting power to them. This is fairly common on fridgidaire ranges. Replace the oven control. Usually the control overlay is sold as a separate piece.

Element blew in oven; now stove doesn't work....

Sounds like the loose oven element caused a short circuit, which may have fried a wire inside the range. Or, it may have tripped the circuit breaker (or blown the fuse) for the range circuit. Check your electrical panel. If the circuit is open, don't reset it until you've removed the remnants of the oven element.

Counter top or oven will not heat up.

Go back to you breaker box. Re-set the breakers on each side of the one you re-set before. Now try it. Thr range works on 220v. This consist of two breaker leavers. One for each leg of the 220v. If you only re-set one leg, only half the things work.

Fridgidaire slide in oven, everything works but oven elements

I would have to look for a broken or shorted wire in the back of the unit or even a burned out control board. if you heard the noise then it should be pretty easy to see the problem. pay attention the the main wires coming into the range from the wall.

Electric Dbl Wall Oven-loud popping noise at end of self clean

Bill ,i dont suspect the control unit is the problem im going back to the loud pop you heard I would say the pop you heard was one of the elemants blowing and that the reason the the breaker tripped if you say the clock, timer and light functon are ok it more so points to an elemant in most cases when an elemant blows it breaks the circuit .but the other componants also work when you reset the breaker i think in this case bill i would call a electrician it needs testing, sorry i could not help this time bill, but do not hesatate to contact me if i can help you again.adrian
