Thick Vertical White Line Through My LCD Monitor!!!

I have a Toshiba Satellite P105-s6024 i had it for a little over a year now.
About 2 months ago i noticed a thin blue vertical line through the scree about 2" from the left side of the screen, after reading some of the answers on this website i knew there was a problem with the screen.
This morning i woke up finding a Thick White Line 1.5" thick at about 3" from the left side of the screen! i was shocked, so the first thing i do is restart my computer hoping its a mess up, but it persists, and it shows as soon as there is power in the LCD... i think its a fatal problem with the LCD but i am wanting to hear otherwise... please let me know if you know otherwise, or if you have any solutions...
Thank you...

The monitor specs are:
-17.0” diagonal widescreen TruBrite™ TFT active-matrix LCD
display at 1440x900 native resolution (WXGA+)

-Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 950 with 32MB-128MB
dynamically allocated shared graphics memory

Re: Thick Vertical White Line Through My LCD Monitor!!!

Wow I repaired a laptop, err actually the same exact model!! Same problem although the thick white line was about 1.5in to the right of where yours is. Anyway it was the screen itself (or my theory is the lcd itself is fine but the circuit board on the back top of the LCD screen is bad) Either way its best to replace the whole LCD. You can find compatible replacement LCD online between $175-$250 a bit less if you buy used.

Re: Thick Vertical White Line Through My LCD Monitor!!!

You can check if it is a screen or not. Connect another screen to your laptop. If you dont have anotherone you can use your friends screen or go to the nerest computer store and test one there. That way you know 100% it is the screen or another thing: video card wireing...

My Toshiba P105 has a vertical white stripe on its monitor. Any help is appreciated.

A vertical white stripe means a portion of the lcd has will continue to get worse as time progresses. The ONLY way to fix it is to swap the lcd out with a working one. It isn't a loose connection, etc.

Monitor has a vertical line through it

What is happening to your laptop is the power line connecting a row of pixels is failing so only partial colors are showing up causing the vertical line. Usually screen replacement is the only answer to fix it. You can usually find replacement LCD on Ebay.

Toshiba Satellite P105-S6024 screen problem

If this is happening once the PC has fully loaded the OS. You then possibly have a bad inverter or bad LCD screen. Try reloading the video driver and see if this helps. If it doesnt then you will have to replace the inverter or LCD screen. A local repair shop should be able to replace these. And I would have them try to replace the inverter first as it is usually cheaper then the screen.

Best of luck and have a Happy and safe 4th of July weekend!

When you get vertical lines from the top of the screen to the bottom of the screen, it means you have bad LCD panel, you need the new one. It will get worst with more lines as time goes by.

My toshiba laptop has a thick white line down the screen

The normal cause of lines across the LCD of a laptop is a damaged video cable. The unusual cause would be the video card itself.

To determine which item is at fault, you need only attach an external monitor to your laptop's video-out, and then swap your monitor view to 'both' or mirrored (usually just the function key (FN), plus one of the Fkeys...look for an off-blue picture of a monitor on the Fkeys).

If the lines across the screen also appear on an external monitor, then the video card is damaged.

If the lines only appear on the laptop's LCD, but not the external monitor, then just the laptop's internal video cable is damaged.

Hope this helps.

No sound

Your speaker wires may be disconnected from the sound board. See diagram 15 at . It's pretty easy to peak into the case when the front case screws are removed.

Vertical lines in my laptop screen

This could be a failure in several areas along the path from the video card to the monitor.

Being that there is not an issue across the entire monitor the video card should be considered a last resort check.

Usually this is caused by a loose connection between the LCD driver and the LCD panel itself. Sometimes light pressure applied near the affected line will clear it up. If that does then it is a connection between the LCD panel and the connector to the LCD driver at the panel's edge.

Not much can be done unless you have it repaired by a professional or you can take it apart yourself and apply a pad of some type inside the monitor's edge to apply the needed pressure once assembled.

Vertical lines in my laptop screen

My understanding is that you have 2 laptops with the same problem, if that is the case, you need to replace the lcd. When you have lines on lcd's, that is a sign of a bad lcd.

what i recommend you to test is to press behind your monitor and see that the line goes off or not.If it does..that mean you have a loose connection,it can be fix.Incase no then you have problem with your LCD.Normally if its LCD problem then you fix this problem, all you have to do is change the LCD.
