Question about Canon Rebel XT / EOS 350D Digital Camera
When I plug the USB cable in & have the camera on, the camera says busy & does not detect on my computer.
Hey found solution,
in Menu > Go to the last setting menu > Communication > and set it to PC Connection
hope this helps!

Dont know what the problem is .. since i never hook up the camera to the PC ... it was too slow for me...
get a usb CF card reader and you can download it through that

10/20/2008 - Had the same problem and tried all the above suggested solutions, including the communication change, new card, new battery, etc., and finally uninstalled the EOS Utility and reinstalled the latest EOS Utility.
Funny thing: I am now able to download pics from my 30D, but the flashing busy message persists. Even during the download.

I too am having the same problem, although I don't have a great solution this is what worked for me if you also have Google's Picasa picture software.
Uninstall the EOS Utility
Open Picasa, turn on your camera and Import from there.

A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

A friend suggested I uninstall the digital camera solution disk and then reinstall it. I did so and although my computer seemed to crash once it was restarted after turning it off and back on and getting a blue screen from microsoft stating I had to start it manually everything worked out. I am so thankful. I got about 100 pictures downloaded and stored into the appropriate album. Thank you for your concern.

check your device manager on the computer to see if your if your usb driver are loaded and have no conflicts, u could also have a bad cable don't load the camera software on to the computer if you did uninstall the software from the PC and then plug the camera in and let windows recognize the camera if this does not work change the cable your using, GOOD LUCK
