Are you sure about the model number? The link below will take you to the Nikon website page that provides free manual downloads for all their products. I do not see any Coolpix cameras listed with the number 1600 as part of the I.D. Go to the link and check your camera's model number again.

With a 5 megapixel sensor this camera should be well above your requirements.
However, to be sure, take a few photos of different scenes and download them to your computer.
Most programs, such as Photoshop Elements ets will enable you to access the parameters you want. But, even Microsoft Office Picture Manager will tell you your pixel dimensions. Open the image filein MOPC, right click then click on Properties (if it is not already showing on the right of scree. You will find your pixel dimensions and file size and further down the vertical and horozontal dpi.
