The timer in my washing machine is no longer providing neutral to the coin acceptor. My question is whether I can just provide neutral separately. The synptoms where that the coin acceptor wouldn't take quarters. It's a very old Keltner Research replacement for a ticket based system. I found out the pinout supply and tried it on my bench and determined it was working fine. (Nice design work, Keltner! This is my plug for their hardware!) I looked at the washing machine and while the hot was being provided to the coin acceptor, the neutral was not. Schematics in the machine (woohoo! i wish everyone still did this.) showed the neutral was one pole of the timer output. It's not entirely clear what feeds this neutral back to the coin acceptor, but it appears to be a timer bypass signal. (This makes sense since this would need to be active even when the timer is not.). The time chart shows the coin acceptor only gets neutral during the first phases of the wash cycle. But other than the coin acceptor taking coins throughout the cycle (eating the user's money), I can't see any other reasons why providing neutral would be bad. Buying a new timer is $150. I'd prefer to just do this if possible. It has gone through a full cycle without problems.... Thanks for your feedback! Rudy

SOURCE: Leak from maytag top load coin machine during spin drain cycle only
Possible that you would have a tub seal leak if it is only noticable during spin cycle. Possible that it "drips" slightly while in agitation, but not enough to notice it. While in spin mode you have a lot more parts moving as well as a lot more water pressure on the seal itself. Pump could also be leaking, but highly doubtful since it would leak a constant amount at all times. Good Luck!!! Jim
