If you are connecting a cable from the player to one of the LAN ports on the back of your router, then you shouldn't have to do any configuration.
If you're connecting wirelessly, then you'll need a Samsung wireless adapter. Your model doesn't have internal wireless, and it won't take any other wireless adapter but the Samsung WIS09ABGN adapter. It also looks like there is only one USB port, so if you plug in the wireless adapter, you won't be able to plug in USB storage devices.
Our Samsung Blu-Ray player had some trouble connecting, and what I discovered is that it couldn't deal with a network SSID that contained anything but letters, and couldn't deal with a network security (WEP/WPA) key code/password that had anything but numbers and letters. A good WPA key should have at least one special character (punctuaion, &, etc.), but you might have to simplify the key for your Samsung.
So here are some steps to connect wirelessly:
1) Write down your router's SSID, which might also be called "network ID" or "wireless network" or something similar. (If you don't know this, you can log into your router to see it, or check to see what wireless network your computer is connected to; the name of that network is the SSID.
2) Write down the WPA key to your network. If you don't know it, you'll have log in to your router and look on the "security" or "wireless security" tab. It might be called "WEP key" or "WPA passkey" or "network password" or whatever.
3) Check both of those for hypens, ampersands, etc. If there is a special character in either the SSID or key, you'll have to log in to your router to change it.
Once your SSID and key have only numbers and letters, you're ready for a manual install.
It's a bunch of steps, and here they are from the manual:
