Jvc 56wp74 convergence worse after ic's replaced help

Hi, i have the 56wp74, red was out of wack, i properly installed new ic's, and now the green is curved, the red and blue is out of wack too. i tried to manually adjust in the service screen, without luck. i tested all the resistors, and the only two that dont seem right are the 220 ohm on the r873 spot on the board, and the 150 ohm resistor on the r863 spot. both read 89ohms instead of what is on the resistor. could that be the problem, and where can i get thoes resistorsts, and what is the actual name/model of thoes resistors so i can order them ? thanks

I had the same problem, the R873 and the R863 are hooked up in parallel or something. I test themboth on mine and they were measuring 89ohms each and I could see that they were parallel, and that means they should be the average of the two, so I cut them out. I measured them after I cut them out to see which was the bad one, and the r873 measured 220 ohms and r863 measured 150ohms, both exactly correct. Not sure what the deal was. I have since been trying to find replacements... Who knew. Good luck!

Originals were stk392-110 with b3f11 in the top right corner, sanyo i believe, and the replacements are stk392-110 with d5l13 in the top right corner. they are genuine sanyo replacements as them from ebay daler: active parts auction number:160113543774 it is still available to see. thanks

I have a green line converge issue i can't get it to line up, i get it close then th red line moves out of wack. The right side of the picture starts to look 3D. What can I do

Convergence issue, if you cannot fix it by convergence adjustment, is un-doubtedly due to malfunctioning STK amplifier ICs. There are two of them that need to be replaced . They are located behind large aluminium heatsinks as shown in the image below.
The ICs can be purchased on ebay by using the IC numbers in your set as search keyword. You will have de-solder the old ones, apply silicon based thermal grease to the replacements and solder them into the board. Note that you have to make sure that they are making good contact with the heatsink when you replace them. You will also need to test and replace any resistors that the ICs may have taken out when they have gone bad. I hope you know how to use a multimeter(or ohm-meter) and can read resistor color codes. color code chart/Live4soccer7/360fullres/resistor_color_code_chart.jpg
If there is any thing else you would like to know, please let me know.

Convergence problem

Did you lock the adjustment into the TV's memory? This step is the most often missed. Please follow the directions on the Users manual or on the service manual on how to set your memory to hold the configuration.

Find the menu item on setting the convergence adjustment into memory (the menu should have an informational screen on this topic)

I hope this helps

Thank you,

Jvc 56wp74

sounds like a solder related issue on the convergence ICs. They are acessed through the front of the TV behind the speaker grille and then remove the small acess panel and you will see the convergence amp board with the two ICs on it.

A repair facility will charge 400 to 600.00 for the repair. Or you can repair it yourself if you can solder. As both convergence ICs need to be replaced. They are STK392-110 you can get replacement ICs at the following link with free instalation instructions with pictures so you can do the repair yourself. Heres the link.

Mike, convergence adjustments are in your menu, usually under "video" settings. You have to adjust red & blue onto the green, when you`ve done it correctly the "cross" will be pure white, if you cannot move either of the colors left, right, & up, down then the convergence IC`s have failed and will have to be replaced, hope this answers your question, BMW Rider

You have an convergence problem, There are 2 IC's that go bad and a few resisters that can change value. If you flip the board with the Chips inspect the pins for cold solder joints. The IC's can be purchased from matelectronics
