You can choose your friends and get rid of them if they don't come up to scratch, unfortunately relatives are for life...
You could try system restore but I haven't had much luck with that. Usually when I get a problem I just reload the operating system and all the software but the Windows disc should offer you the chance to repair the existing system. I have never attempted that but a friend has used it successfully.
check the usb.(small rectangle hole) with another keyboard. check if the keyboard lock is off. if so turn on. check if the keyboard requires any additional software.
Admittedly, the placement of the "END" key is odd in the location where the "NUM LOCK" key would normally be. However, if you look at that key closely you will note that there is a second function to it. Hold down the "fn" key and press the "End/num lk" key and the numbers will be turned on.
Running intense program with the lid closed will cause a sharp rise in temperature making the laptop hotter than it should be leading it into a shutdown. The second issue, windows should be shutdown properly rather than closing the lid, this makes the operational system unstable and will cause files to corrupt eventually.
Memory issue? Too many programs at start up. You can shut down what you don't want by Ctrl+alt+delete! that starts the task manager. Close all the unnecessary programs.
I had this problem on my A639 after going on holiday with it (I think the x-ray scanners did something to it). It started switching itself off more and more as the days went by until one day it went off and never came back. After resetting it, it just stayed on the blue "ASUS Rock Solid Heart Touching" screen. I was worried that it was totally broken and I'd have to pay to get it repaired, but after searching the internet it turned out all I needed to do was re-flash the ROM with a fresh copy (I used the latest ROM). It now works fine and no longer turns itself off... didn't cost me ANYTHING to fix :-)
