Hi. I can't factory reset my ASUS s500c. Anyway here's the deal, my jealous older brother has done something to my laptop, Can you believe that, a family member. Please, help, anyone !

You can choose your friends and get rid of them if they don't come up to scratch, unfortunately relatives are for life...

You could try system restore but I haven't had much luck with that. Usually when I get a problem I just reload the operating system and all the software but the Windows disc should offer you the chance to repair the existing system. I have never attempted that but a friend has used it successfully.

ASUS Q501L Notebook PC, how do I keep or even start the numbers lock keypad? Keep pressing num lk key but nothing happens.

Admittedly, the placement of the "END" key is odd in the location where the "NUM LOCK" key would normally be. However, if you look at that key closely you will note that there is a second function to it. Hold down the "fn" key and press the "End/num lk" key and the numbers will be turned on.

Notebook Crashes to PowerOff state when lid is closed

Running intense program with the lid closed will cause a sharp rise in temperature making the laptop hotter than it should be leading it into a shutdown. The second issue, windows should be shutdown properly rather than closing the lid, this makes the operational system unstable and will cause files to corrupt eventually.

My ASUS Essentio has a weird problem. Everything starts to freeze up and things stop responding. I think I have an overheating problem, but I'm not sure. What should I do?

Memory issue? Too many programs at start up. You can shut down what you don't want by Ctrl+alt+delete! that starts the task manager. Close all the unnecessary programs.

When i try to type it does strange things such as close the window. i think my son locked a function key or something??? help please!!!

Note that pressing 'CTRL-W' will close an Internet Explorer Window.
Note that 'ALT-F4' will close any program's Window.

Turn the computer off, by holding down the ON/OFF button for 10 seconds. Restart it, and the problem probably will have vanished.

Asus mypal A639 keeps shutting down

I had this problem on my A639 after going on holiday with it (I think the x-ray scanners did something to it). It started switching itself off more and more as the days went by until one day it went off and never came back. After resetting it, it just stayed on the blue "ASUS Rock Solid Heart Touching" screen. I was worried that it was totally broken and I'd have to pay to get it repaired, but after searching the internet it turned out all I needed to do was re-flash the ROM with a fresh copy (I used the latest ROM). It now works fine and no longer turns itself off... didn't cost me ANYTHING to fix :-)
