Question about Kenmore Refrigerators
Have had the same problem, most of the time it is ice build up on the freezer fan motor. Instead of pull the refrigerator apart or paying for a $500 service call I took out the drawers and found ice buildup on the inside back wall. Took a hair dryer and melted all the ice and put hot air in all the vents. Worked great for about a year and a half and just had to do it again but I've heard of other people paying for new fans, motors, boards, etc and still having the same icing issue. Cheap solution for an expensive, defective refrigerator.

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.
The 1F code means there is a communication problem between the control board and the freezer fan.
Your freezer fan my have failed or it my be blocked by ice build-up.
So, It is one of these parts:
1.) Freezer fan motor
2.) Defrost heater
3.) Defrost timer.
You did not provide a model number so I can not provide you with parts numbers.
Although, I am retired, I do maintain a small customer base. If you live near Glen Burnie, MD, call me 443-306-1362
