Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I got a MSI RS482M4 motherboard with AMD Athlon 3200 CPU. I was using this config with 1 GB RAM and 1TB HDD since about 2006. Recently the PC upon switching on didn't start. Further checking revealed that the cpu is starting but display is not coming on monitor (Samsung B2030, purchased in 2011). I changed the display cable from DVI to VGA type, then display came but purple in colour. I tried cleaning the inside of desktop, reseating RAM sticks, tigheting cables etc. but the display is still purple in colour through VGA cable. DVI cable is still not working and monitor displays no signal. Please advise to get normal display back.

SOURCE: No Monitor display with P4VMA-M Motherboard cpu...

good day,

have you tried unplugging and replugging the cable connecting from the monitor to the video card? if after trying that it your video card is still not functioning, try installing a separate video card in its appropriate slot and try if this will work. better yet, have it checked by a competent technician in your area to verify other possible causes of this problem.

i hope this will help

32bit XP only supports up to 3.25gb RAM. You'd have to change to a 64bit OS to use the rest.

Good luck.

Hello,

Thanks for using fixya.

My name is Carlo.

Your computer might not pass the system requirements that's why it has an error. Or, you can try installing it one more time and check if it will work. Computers do mess up sometimes.

Here's the system requirement of SIMS 3:

Desktop PC (Windows XP + SP2):
CPU: 2ghz Pentium4 Processor or Amd Athlon 2000+ Processor
RAM: 1 GB of RAM
GPU: 128mb Video Card (GeForce FX 5900 or Radeon 9500)

Desktop PC (Windows Vista + SP1):
CPU: 2ghz Pentium4 Processor or Amd Athlon 2400+ Processor
RAM: 1.5 GB of RAM
GPU: 128mb Video Card (GeForce FX 5900 or Radeon 9500)

Laptop (Windows XP + SP2):
CPU: 2ghz Pentium4 Processor or Amd Athlon 2000+ Processor
RAM: 1.5 GB of RAM
GPU: 128mb Video Card (GeForce Go 6200 or Radeon 9600)

Laptop (Windows Vista + SP1):
CPU: 2ghz Pentium4 Processor or Amd Athlon 2400+ Processor
RAM: 2 GB of RAM
GPU: 128mb Video Card (GeForce Go 6200 or Radeon 9600)

IF your computer does not pass the system requirement, then you cannot play sims3 in your computer.

I hope this helps. Thank you for using fixya

Memory +cpu upgrade

No to the cpu you selected. Board would not support that cpu. The RAM you selected would probably work but for how long I couldn't say. With prices pretty low right now it would probably be better to purchase a new motherboard, cpu, & RAM. Hope this helps.

Random black screens, during bios config, boot, windows.

it is a very good chance that it is a video card issue as you said that you can still hear the sound, i mean the sound of windows starting if that is the case then need to get a video card and installif the motheboard doesn't have a AGP slot then get a pci video card, try that
