If you have a wire aerial (length of wire hanging out the back of radio) make sure it is not just lying on the floor or coiled up in a ball. Try to get the wire as high as you can to receive a better signal.

I have a cobra25LTD that picks up real bad static only when i get near other semi trks and power lines never had this problem before how can I fix

unless you know anything about repairing radios you should take it to a CB shop and ask them to check out the receive filter and if its bad change it . If you are using a cigarette lighter plug it will pick up static and other round noises also.Change the plug and hard wire it,see if the noise goes away. ground your antenna better.Does your radio have delta tune? if so make sure its in the 12 o'clock position.Try everything you can from the outside of the radio .If it is still there then take it to a tech.

The only way I can receive is to have static all the time, how can I receive and transmit without static

has to do with the electrons in the air waves . Have you noticed that when you are near businesses with flourecent lights you pick up a lot of static? A traffic light may change and the electrical impulses from the change can be heard in your radio. It could also be the vehicle you are driving .Are you using a cigarette lighter plug which will give you static also . Do you have a noise blanker switch on the radio ? if yes make sure it is on and an A N L switch ,make sure it is on .

I have a vm9114 Jensen in dash and I'm getting a lot of static From the radio station I've tried new radios different antennas and still have this problem what could it be

Static in radios especially if the static varies with RPM.s is a sign that there is a sparking action going on in the electrical system. This can generally be traced back to an alternator that has pitted slip rings and dirty brushes.. Normally it can be fixed by reconditioning the alternator or having an accredited auto electrician attach a small capacitor to the alternator ( Bat terminal for the lead ) with the capacitor bolted to an earth point . Seek advice from the electrician and radio fitting shops .

When I key the microphone the diesel engine rpm drops

Usually when you hear engine static through your radio it very seldom is the ground causing it,If it were me (which it has been many times) I would try to find a place on the fuse panel to hook up the positive wire what you need to do is get the positive as far away from a direct alternater connection, like direct to battery, light switch or even sometimes a cigarette lighter will give you static you want to stay away from these if you can. Most electronic shops will sell a noise filter for about the same price it would cost to make one.One of the best ways I've also found to quiet the static down is to tap into your car radio hot wire as long as your c.b. is not a high power radio you should be able to get away with it only make sure you change the fuse to a higher rate like from a 5 amp to a 10 amp and so on. Good luck and I hope some of this helps.

Hello LJones0455. From your detailed attempts there are few options. Position the transducers one foward one aft. Connect the negitives of the battiers to the boat still route both positive & negitive wiring to all devices. Check the continunity of your transducers include flexing while ohming. Let me know of the results.

Static

When I have a static problem with a phone or radio it usually happens when I have them plugged into a extension cord. Or they are too close to one another. You may try an ext.cord. just having the phone plugged in or find out why you have so many magnetic fields in your house and if moving the phone around to different outlets help.If not I suggest you call Radio Shack. You can not beat their customer service.

Lots of static when I turn it on. Changing the channels does not work. Having no onother appliance plugged into the outlet doesn't work. Moving it away from other appliances doesn't work. What should I do?
