If you use a Mac, in your applications and then utilities > Keychain. You can glance into the password folder and see if it shows up.

I want to find the router password/security key for others can use it,

to find the security key, you need to be connected hardwired to the netgear. or if you have a computer that is currently currently connected to it, try to open a browser and go to the address bar and delete everything inside it even the http:\\. now type this numbers 192.168.1.1, it should ask you now for the user name and password. username is " admin" all in lower case. password is " password" all in lower case. it would take you now to the netgear page. on the leftside of the page you would see WIRELESS SETTINGS. click on it. you would see your network name inside SSID and security key inside PASSPHRASE.

I am trying to set up NetFlix on my Wii --- I need the default info for my NetGear wireless router????

Hi,

Welcome to Fixya. Im not quite sure what password you're reffering to if ti's the rotuer password or the Network Password or Network Key. Listd below are the steps on how to obtain the Network Password and the Router Password.

To access your router you need to use a computer that is connected to it. Open a Browser then type192.168.0.1 or http://routerlogin.net. The Default username is admin and the password is password. Password is case sensitive. Go to the Wireless Settings Page of your router. Look for the SSID or the Network Name and the Network Key or Passphrase. You can personalize it so that you can easily remeber the details. Make sure you connect to your SSID and enter the Network Key to make it secure.

If you think this is helpful rate me and dont forget to say thanks. Thanks for using Fixya.

Need to find out password or how to reset a new password

Unfortunately, there is no way to recover a lost or forgotten password from a router or access point; you will need to reset the device to factory defaults. However, once the device is reset to factory defaults, you can use the default username ("admin") and password (either "password" or "1234" depending on your router) to reconfigure your router settings.

or

if there is a small hole in the front or back of the router push a hair pin in to reset to factory settings

dont forget to vote hope this helps

How do I rename the netgear connection and make it security enabled? I have WG602v2 router

Hi,

Please follow steps to make your network secure and change network name.

1. Connect the computer to 1ST Accesspoint using a Ethernet cable.
2. Open a web browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Safari).
3. Access the Accesspoint (usually http://192.168.0.227).
4. Login to the Accesspoint (Username = admin Password = Password unless you have changed it).
5. click on Wireless Settings in the left hand side menu under Setup.
6. Change the network name SSID to (any name) and click apply.
7. Click on Security Settings in the left hand side menu under Setup and select Security Type as WEP.
8. Select Authentication Type as Open System.
9. Select Encryption Strength as 64 bits.
10. Under Security Encryption (WEP) Key in the Key 1 box enter the same 10 digit key that was used on the router before.
11. Click Apply.

Hope this will resolved your issue

Securing wireless connection

Hi again, glad to help if I can.

Securing the wireless signal will temporarily disconnect the PS3, which will need to be set up with the new security details in order to connect again.

There are four steps, which are the same for most routers:

1) Login to your router, using a wired connection
2) Change the router login password 3) Change the network name (SSID)
3) Enable WPA encryption

Here are the details:

1) Login to your router, using a wired connection.
On your desktop PC, open a web browser, as if to view a web page. Type the router address into the address bar, which is http://192.168.0.1 for this model. You can also use www.routerlogin.com for Netgear.

You should then see a popup box, prompting you for a username and password. If these have not been changed, they will be the defaults of username: admin and password: password

If you log in successfully, you should then see the Netgear configuration screen.

2) Change the router login password.
To set a new password, go to the left hand menu: under ‘Maintenance’ click ‘Set Password’. Set and confirm a new password. Click ‘Apply’ when finished.

Make sure this is not easy to guess, otherwise someone could login to your router and view/change your settings. (Tip: write the password on a label and stick it on the router, or keep it somewhere safe. )

3) Change the SSID (router name):
Go to Setup > Wireless Settings. Under ‘Wireless Network’ you should see an option marked ‘Name’ or SSID. Change this from the default, ‘netgear’, to anything you like, that you can remember. You will need this when setting up the PS3 again. It is case sensitive, and you can use up to 32 letters –but do not use something that could identify you, or your location.

4) Enable encryption
Still in the 'Wireless Settings' menu option, you should see the ‘Security Options’ section. You have a number of options, but I would pick WPA-PSK, which is very secure and good for most equipment.

Under ‘WPA-PSK Security Encryption’ you need to enter a network key. This is a long password, or passphrase, between 8 and 63 letters/numbers long. This can be any series of letters/ numbers, or you can use a phrase with numbers ( eg - 456HappynEWYeartoyou8899). It is case sensitive.

Note down the network key carefully. You will need this to connect wirelessly. (The network key may also be called the WPA shared key, PSK, pre-shared key, passphrase, or authentication key.) Click ‘Apply’ when finished.

That's it, you have done enough to secure your network, and can close the screen.

There are further security options to enable if you wish, but these three are the most important.

When you next connect wirelessly, or go to configure the PS3, a scan should bring up the router with its new name in the 'available wireless networks'. When you attempt to connect, you are asked for the network key you set in Step 4. If all goes well, you can then save this and will connect automatically in future.

Hope this helps you. Please come back to Fixya if it doesn't, or if you need help with any of it. Good luck!

Low signal need netgear name

  1. Open an Internet explorer and type the router IP address which would be either http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 (by default, refer to your product documentation ti determine the default IP address.) in the address bar and press Enter.
The Login window will be prompting for a Username and Password. The default Username is admin and the default Password is password
once you see the setup you can configure and change the name and security of your network
to find out which one is your network place the router as close to the laptop/desktop so that u get a strong signal
if u get other networks u will no yours if try logging onto them and it asks for a password..if u have not configured your without security then that network must be yours..
hope it helps..do letme know if u need anymore help..

Lost network password which I need to sign on an ipod touch using a netgear dg834gt

Key 1 should work in most cases. If you have additional keys listed, try them also.
If none work, turn off encryption and connect your new device, then create a new password.
