How to determine if a plug on the back of a TV is good

Have you checked for a cracked circuit board. Very minor cracks in a circuit board may cause a break in the circuit when the boards are flexed slightly. Loose solder joints will also cause problems when boards are flexed or stressed when screwed tightly etc.

I can't get a picture on my Roadstar LCD8082D TV

The TV has two main sections One is the Audio component. And 2 is Video section. Since they are Separate and not dependent on one another with the exception of synchronization; (matching Voice to the Video), one section may work just fine. The other non-working section in your case is the Video. Over time various internal parts age and wear out from use or hot/cold. In the Video section a series of Capacitors, resistors, diodes, and transistors on a circuit board make up the Video portion of the TV. One or more of these electronic parts are going bad or totally defective. The only solution is a replacement circuit board. Do not waste your money on repairing a circuit board. If you cannot obtain a replacement circuit board, then the Road-star is now a Road Accor.

I have a dvd player and it want come on anymore...its portable

It's virtually impossible to analyze a TV's circuits via internet. RCA's were famous for defective electrolytic capacitors, cold solder connections, tuner problems and power supply/deflection circuit problems. Any or all of these problems could be factors in your TV's demise. The only solution I see is in the hands of a experienced repairman or you could try locate the caps your self and buy the correct caps then soldered them on hope this helps.

Craig 7 inch lcd tv with dvd player is sold as DIGITAL meaning it will pick up digital tv signals with a tuner or antenna like my old tv at home with a converter; right?\r\nCan get no signal on tv...

The word "Digital" means, that device have digital processor circuit inside, which uses only for signal processing. Not mean that it will pickup digital signals. You did misunderstand that word. That's all.

Ijust get a light screen!! no sound, no menu, no nothing

Internal capacitors have probably gone bad (bulged and leaked) and therefore there is nothing that can be done short of soldering new caps into place, and hoping the old one's didn't damage anything else on the circuit board. Recommendation: replace it.

TV DOESN'T GET SIGNAL

This may be a tuner failure, or a fault in the AGC or IF circuits. This may not be cheap to service unless it is a simple cold solder connection on one of the circuit boards in the mentioned areas.

There should be a small fuse on the circuit board inside the tv. Sometimes the fuse is soldered direct to the board and not in a holder. Hope this helps you,,, Mechanic

Sound works, picture is very dark

You have to be specific when asking a question please. as you dont mention its a flodable LCD screen TV as I had to look it up. your problem is in the backlite circuit. if your a tech, you should have no problem finding this fault but could be a little trick if your not as your going to need to know how a back light circuit works, the parts in the circuit and know how to use a multimeter. Good Luck
