I need help getting my car started after running out of gas

2000 Cadillac Seville Sts

Car ran out of gas. Immediately placed 1/2 tank of gas. The car wouldn't start. Checked the fuses & cleared the air from the line. Still won't start!

    Need to know exactly where the pump shut off switch is located in a 2000 Cadillac Seville STS. There is fuel skeeting out through the fuel rails.

    no, didn't check the fuel filter. There is fuel running up through the fuel rails. Its skeeting out!

You have no fuel pressure, when u ran out of gas u overheated the fuel pump in the tank, now it is stuck and won't start running, very common problem after running out of gas, replace the fuel pump.

It will take some time for the gas to make it's way back up to the fuel rail. Some of the GM vehicles have a fuel pump shut off swich down by the brake pedal. Sometimes these can trip when tank is empty.

GM and Cadillacs Code 13 means Oxygen sensor circuit fault.

Its possible that your need to replace the sensor if have long time using.

That should usually be ither the mass airflow sensor getting dirty if so use carbeurater cleaner to clean it out ir its another air sensor ,just look along the air intake pipe ..and use the cleaner to clean the sensors

Is the gas tank above 1/2 tank now?

A worn / aged fuel pump will fail when it's hot and the fuel level is low (example: below 1/4)

Park your car in a cool area.

Start the car when it's cold outside,

Car won't start
Sounds like it is burning coolant, possible blown head gasket or cracked head or intake leak.

If too much coolant enters the cylinder it will stop the engine from running.

your fuel pump has failed from overheating, the pump is cooled by the gas it runs in, when u run out of gas or low on fuel many times this destroys the pump,replace the fuel pump.

Fuel filter replacement
look over rear end it is by the gas tank .you need to spray the fittings with wd40 or P B blaster it works alot better than wd40 to help loosen the fittings start by pulling fuel relay under hood in fuse box start car this will relive fuel pressure you will need 2-15mm line wrenchs for one end of filter the other you squeeze the fitting and pull out filter
