Question about Siemens Dishwashers

1 Answer

Hi, my Siemens iq500 dishwasher cuts out mid cycle usually towards the second half of the cycle, it switches off and some times the display indicates the period of time remaining of the incomplete cycle. After a period of cooling the cycle can be started again from the start of the cycle. Today the dishwasher does not switch on/powerup. what could be the cause. thanks.

    Hi Peter,

    Thank you for your reply.

I spent some time today to strip the dishwasher and located the main control board, positioned behind the right side panel of the dishwasher. Part number of the control panel is 9000376770 for a siemens iq500 dishwasher. Opened it up and an IC has melted on the board.

If i replace this part will it need reprogramming to the dishwasher?

Where will be the best place to buy part as an online search shows this to be quite an expensive item.

    Many Thanks.

    Regards.

Hello Naeem, Generally, I go to the control board last. Good for you. Now you have to ask your self what made this happen. You do not want to put in a new board and have this happen again. You must have had a short at the IC that melted. When you put in the new board, ground your self by touching bare steel. Static electricity will knock out a board. To be on the safe side check your thermal fuse. Whith your multi-meter set on the lowest Ohms you should get a reading of '0' Ohms. Any other reading the fuse is bad. Also, purchase a individual single wall socket surge protector. They are not that expensive and will save you alot of money in the long run. All appliance with control boards should have surge protectors. Although I am retired I have a small customer baise that I maintain. If my customer can wait, I will purchase the part over the internet for considerably less. Some units require the board to be programed to interface with all of the electrical components. When you purchase the board ask the source if it requires programing and for instructions. You will receive the board in a silver anti-static bag, remember to ground yourself. There may be instructions in the bag. Do not remove the connectors on the old board so you know where they go on the new board. I can not access very much information on your unit because I live in Glen Burnie, Maryland, USA. Best wishes and Happy Holidays.

Hello;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

It sounds like you had a bad thermostat and then blew the thermal fuse.

These parts are in the back of your washer, The thermal fuse is on you hot air duct and your thermal fuse is on the opposite side.
It could look like the following:

Zanussi zdt 6053 usually will not run full cycle (on any cycle) but stops with constant error beeps. But it is draining ok and sometimes goes full cycle (not often) Any ideas?

Could be anything!
If you suspect that there is a fault then it will be displayed by blinking LED "END OF CYCLE". As the display of failure in hexadecimal code it can flash up to max. 15 times than short pause and after that repeat fault code. You must to count the number of times the LED "END OF CYCLE" flash up.

Example from user manual: Anti-flood device is activated.
- continuous flashing of the indicator light of the running programme
- 3 intermittent audible signals
- 3 flashes of the END OF CYCLE indicator light
(which means "i30" fault code, the cycle is interrupted and the
drain pump switches on).
Possible causes:
Water leakage from the tub - sump and various connections
(pump, upper spray arm duct etc.); floating sensor blocked
mechanically; microswitch faulty; fill solenoid blocked
mechanically; circuit board faulty (solenoid triac short-circuited);
wiring faulty.
26226179-aipk5px1bmfkdpsmrgevaqwn-3-1.jpg Could be also:
To cancel a washing programme in progress:
- Open the dishwasher's door.
- Press the programme selection/cancel button for about 3 seconds,
until the indicator light of the running programme turns off and the
END OF CYCLE indicator light flashes, indicating that the running
programme has been cancelled and that the machine has
returned to setting mode. It is now possible to select another
washing programme. If a new washing programme will be
selected, check that there is detergent in the detergent dispenser.

NOTE: only during the drying phase, if the dishwasher's door will be opened and remains open for more then 30 seconds, the running programme will be automatically cancelled and the machine will return to setting mode. This will happen, always only during the drying phase, also when the machine is switched off by pressing the
On/Off button and remains switched off for more then 30 seconds.

Our 2 draw dishwasher stops mid cycle once or sometimes several times. The red light comes on and it bleeps until we press the start button then it will continues the cycle.

The red light and beeping indicates a fault. The fault code number will be indicated in the display or by other LEDs being lit. If you post back with the details of the display we may be able to help you.

Dishwasher not starting

Hi Mike Heneghan - The issue may lie with the door latch; a door switch is used to start and stop your dishwasher. It's a safety feature that won't allow water to flow with the door open. With a faulty door switch, there is a chance your dishwasher won't start at all. Dishwasher door switches are about an inch long. They are usually black but can be red. There are metal prongs on the body of the switch called terminals. Some door switches have two terminals and some have three. If your door switch is OK, check the timer assembly. This controls when and how long power is sent to other controls on your dishwasher. If these controls don't receive power, they won't work. The timer assembly contains a motor. Check this motor as well. It is often cheaper just to replace the timer motor rather than the complete assembly. My last suggestion is to check the cycle selector switches. These switches indicate cycles for washing, drying, and setting the temperature of the water. If one of your switches is the problem your dishwasher may not start. Dishwasher cycle selector switches tell the timer which cycle to run by opening and closing electrical circuits. Most selector switches are six to eight inches long. They are usually black and have terminals. By testing each one of these parts with an ohmmeter you should be able to determine why your dishwasher is not working. It is possible for other parts to fail but these are the most common parts to check. If any proves to be ineffective, I strongly suggest contacting a professional to move forward accurately.

My frigidaire dishwasher works intermittently. It'll completely stop mid -cycle, as if the power was shut off - then eventually indicate a power failure on the display. Then it wil work fine for a c

Hello Tom Weiss, There are a couple of things to check.
1. Check connection at the dishwasher. It is possible that the wire nuts came lose. Re-tighten and wrap with electrical tape to secure.
2. Check for a small leak from sink or faucet this has also been the culpret before.

My dishwasher won't switch off after finishing a programme. It registers as 1 minute remaining. This still continues to happen in the next washes after resetting the machine. Siemens SE65A560GB

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

Based on your description
I'd say the issue actually is with the control...unfortunately. This is commonly associated with a heating fault on Bosch built dishwashers ( various models including Bosch, Thermador, Siemens, Gaggenau, and Neff ).

Since the issue is likely within the electronic timer/control, specifically the heater relay solder joint. ( a faulty flow switch, ntc or heater can also cause this, but not very probable ).
These are the steps you'll need to follow to resolve it or at least investigate.

If you feel capable of checking this on your own, there`s a way to visually inspect the control yourself...it really isn't very complicated.

It will require you to remove the control from the unit and then remove the control from it`s plastic housing and look for a burnt solder contact on the printed circuit board.

dabfa62.jpg

The culprit will 99% of the times be one of the pins from the heater relay,

9f1823d.jpg

**Flip this over and inspect the solder joints, it will be obvious when you see it.**

hence the unit sit`s and takes longer & longer to finish because it can`t heat to advance or unless the 2 buttons for "cancel" are pressed...this can also manifest as a long cycle time as I mentioned and eventually display's "1" on units with a display and usually very poor cleaning, no heating ( don't be fooled by the homes inlet hot water temperature ) as a result.

You can also run the unit through a regular or econo cycle ...any cycle with the exception of rinse & hold, and with the door panel removed place an ammeter on the gray/black wire it should draw 11 amps during the wash cycle...after it fills and the flow switch indicates it has adequate water to engage the heater.

i.e. ( this may differ from your specific model, but the same rules apply )

f57273b.jpg
**My Opinion - if you or someone you know is proficient at soldering, a lot of times it can be remedied by simply repairing the solder...but it has to be done well...or it will not last.
Bosch recommend`s replacing the control and I don`t pretend to speak on their behalf nor do I profess to know better. This is just my experience (it work`s) and my opinion (why buy new if one can repair ?)

**Please disconnect the power or turn off the breaker before attempting any service to the dishwasher.**

If you do not feel comfortable attempting this service, call a local pro, preferably one familiar with Bosch/Thermador/Gaggenau/Siemens, to service your machine.

Thank`s for visiting "FixYa" for your repair inquiries. Please take a moment and rate this solution to it's helpfulness.

Good luck.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)
