PYE Washing Machine AWM800 won't wash/spin. The drum seems very loose. Could it be the springs and the belt slipping?

Can you hear the solenoids or hear components turning on/off such as the pump? Does the drum fill with water?

Have you noticed any discolouring or grease on clothes coming out of the wash prior to noticing this problem? Has your washer been particularly noisy during spin cycles before not running at all?

The outer casing on most washers can easily be removed to get a better look. If you notice grease or oil after removing the cover, a good possibility is that the bearing has broken. I have personally experienced this, it ended up being more beneficial to purchase a new washing machine in my situation.

It will do no harm in doing some further investigating in this situation, just unplug the washer before taking the cover off.

Everytime I use my washing machine, I get the E3, then dc messages.. also, my belt (for the spin) seems as if it is slipping and can't turn the washer drum over... Then, after I can't take the running...

You get an error if there is something wrong with your machine, now that your washer drum doesn't turn and you are hearing a noise, the possible cause is that the belt alreadi slipped out, if you have the access of opening the back panel where you can see the inner part of the machine, try to replace yoour belt with a new one and install it, it is easy, it only take an adjustment of the bolts and screw, try not to tighten it too much.., make a little loose so that the belt can play.

Is the motor supposed to not be fixed to tension

The motor is spring loaded to keep tention on the belt. The belt is designed to slip. When the washer is full of water the motor starts at 1725 RPM and the belt is a little loose. As the drum empties its water the belt gets tighter and the speed picks up to spin the water out of the cloths. If the cloths are not comming out as dry as they should, replace the belt. As the belt starts to wear it becomes shiny and doesn't grip the pully properly and slips too much.
I hope this helps.

The washing machine belt will move to agitate, but will not move to spin. The spin action burns up the belt. This is an Amana LWA50AW

open rear cover , see if belt slips. then remove belt and rotate empty drum if its jam than drum bearings need to change. if drum is free then belt might be loose and needs replacement.

Front loading washing machine will not tumble or spin

This sounds like a drive belt porblem. The belt that connects the drum motor to the drum has slipped/broken/worn out. A new drive belt will most likey fix this one...

Alternately, a loose or broken pulley. I don't suspect a bad motor, since you say you can hear it clicking and whiring...

Drum not spinning & springs wrong way round?

To replace the belt hold in place on motor & feed onto pulley. The springs are on correctly but it seems one of the suspension legs is not doing its job. This may have occured when turning upside down & would explain distorted door seal. Thanks again for using fixya.
