Question about Washing Machines
Have you noticed any discolouring or grease on clothes coming out of the wash prior to noticing this problem? Has your washer been particularly noisy during spin cycles before not running at all?
The outer casing on most washers can easily be removed to get a better look. If you notice grease or oil after removing the cover, a good possibility is that the bearing has broken. I have personally experienced this, it ended up being more beneficial to purchase a new washing machine in my situation.
It will do no harm in doing some further investigating in this situation, just unplug the washer before taking the cover off.
