Why can't I connect to wifi anywhere?

there are two systems.
Mobile data and private Wi Fi networks.

Some Wi Fi networks with limited range are available at Wi Fi hot spots but you need to know the password to connect.

In my country Australia Telstra is going to offer Wi FI hot spots for its home users broadband customers and will then bill the usage to their home account. https://www.telstra.com.au/broadband/telstra-air

this is a new network concept in its infancy

Reset tablet screen

I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for but.. If your device is frozen and unresponsive, press and hold [POWER ] for 8-10 seconds. The device will reboot automatically.
If this does not solve the problem, perform a factory data reset. In Menu mode, select Settings >Privacy >Factory data reset >Reset Tablet>Erase everything

User Information Enter your first and last name and your phone number.
Login Information Enter an email address and a password. This creates an AT&T account, allowing you to log in to the account later to make changes or view your usage statistics.
Recurring Domestic Plan Options This allows you to choose the type of plan you want to use.
Payment & Billing Information Complete this section with the billing information you’d like to use to pay for your Cellular Data account.

You can tap "Use a different service address" if you're billing address is a P.O. Box or Rural Route, and enter an alternate address for your service address

Note: You cannot use a P.O. Box or Rural Route for the service address. AT&T requires that you use a street address for the service address. Please see this Document from AT&T for more information.
3. The Terms of Service agreement loads. Take a minute to read this agreement. Tap Agree to continue.

If you need to use your iPad internationally, you must sign up for the international data plan while in the United States.
5. Tap Submit to complete the creation of your Cellular Data account. The Congratulations screen loads. This lets you know that your account has been created, and that AT&T is activating your iPad. Tap OK to finish and return to the Settings screen of your iPad Wi-Fi + 3G.

http://km.support.apple.com/library/APPLE/SECRET_PRODUCTS/S_PROJECT_15/HT4157/HT4157--data_plan_activated-001-en.png

While waiting for this activation, you can use your iPad Wi-Fi + 3G on Wi-Fi.

Additional Information Note: The Cellular Data account sign-up process is managed by AT&T. If you have questions, concerns, or problems with this sign-up process, please contact AT&T.
If you need to change or correct your email account information, please contact AT&T.
Note: A unique email address is required for your AT&T account. If you plan on setting up cellular data accounts for multiple iPads, you must use a different email address for each account.

My Epson EMP-S4 LCD projector does not display images from my Averatec C3500 laptop. It displays "No signal".. Do i have to press any keys before it would display? I suppose it would automatically project...

When you connect a data projector or external monitor to the external video port on the laptop, power up the data projector or external monitor first then the laptop. The video info will automatically divert to the data projector/external monitor automatically.
If you have already had powered up the laptop first, most laptops will allow you to toggle between the LCD screen and the external video port by pressing the Fn key plus one of the Function keys, this key will have a screen/laptop symbol.

It was always difficult for me to switch on/off Nokia N800 as its button seemed too soft and fragile. And now I've been using Nokia N800 for 8 months and yesterday its button stopped reacting! It wouldn't...

Do you hear "clicking" when you press the power button? As if it registers the button but does nothing after the "click?" If not, then it sounds like the mechanical/electrical problem with the button. If you do hear clicking maybe if you simply do a battery pull it may reset what was freaking out the power button.

There is a way to reset the UI (rather than cycling the power) but it involves from shell commands:

the XTerm is in the utilities menu. Open that up and type:

/etc/init.d/mce restart
/etc/init.d/osso-systemui restart

Also in XTerm

shutdown -r now

will reset the N800.

Hope this helps,
Bill
