Question about Heating & Cooling

Open Question

We rent and have a baxi Bermuda sp we have had a few problems with it in the past ie not lighting had a new spark bit fitted but today we came home from shopping to find the gas gad run out ( on the pre pay netter ) so we got some more and my partner tried to light the boiler . On the slow release of the button the boiler flew a large amount of flames out and made a very loud bang causing the top of the fire place and the sides to blow off . We have turned the gas if and left a message at the estate agents . But I'm a little peed off with then trying to prolong replacing it now and am very anxious that it's just not safe . What would cause it to do this ? Is it safe ? Any info would be appreciated

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: got a baxi bermuda 552, back boiler not working

Hi clean pilot light and change the thermocouple , you will have to remove the gasfire to get to the boiler if unsure best get a gas fitter to do this as this is not easy to explaine , simple job but you have to know what you are doing , it might be you need a service on the bbu and the gasfire then the thermocouple could be done at this time.

SOURCE: pilot light on baxi bermuda

Sometimes the thermostat wire (not sure of the technical name) gets oxidized and can't sense the heat (it's there as a safety measure so that when the pilot light goes out, the gas shuts off). If it isn't to hard to get to, sometimes you can use some aluminum foil to clean the wire so that it senses the heat of the pilot light flame. Make sure the main unit is off, and let the unit sit for awhile to make sure there is no residual gas hanging around. If this doesn't work, you might have to get a specialist out to replace that piece. Hope this helps.

try bleeding the radiators in the order of downstairs first and then the upstairs and try to bleed them in the order they fill, trapped air can take a while to escape, a good sign on a radiator is the bottoms being warm where the tops( where the air is trapped) stays cooler, a sure sign to which radiator needs bleedin, hope this helps, colin

How to light pilot light on back boiler?

Hi. we have a baxi bermuda. I know that you need to hold in the silver button on the left while repeatedly pressing red/ignighter button until pilot is lit. Hold in the silver button for at least another 30 seconds.
Good luck, ours wont light anymore so was on here looking for advice.
