Question about Toro Garden

1 Answer

We have a toro model 20031. The battery doesn't work and my husband disconnected all battery connections. Should the engine still start with the pull cord?

Pressed the primer 3 times and pulled the cord. The pull start worked fine in the summer with the battery connections linked up. Now that we have disconnected the battery, the engine doesn't start with the pull cord

Leave all the battery connections connected, then prime the carb, and pull to start, i have a quad with an electric start and a pull start, it will not start with the pull cord if the battery is not connected.

SOURCE: Toro Electric Start Mower Barely Turns Over

this is easy to point out the problem. if it is still under warranty get warranty replacement of the starter is not you might be better off just buying a new mower might be easier and cheaper because if your not still under warranty with it it will cost you quite a bit of money if you can't replace it yourself it will cost you the amount of the new starter and it will cost you the amount that the shop's labor fee which can vary a lot depending on where you take it.

Actually we ended up taking it back to the store we bought it at and since it had been less than 30-days they did not even look at it or attempt to fix it, just gave us a new one.

SOURCE: My lawnmower which is a TORO 6.5hp-Tecumseh engine

It sounds like hydraulic lock. The carb is dumping to much fuel into cylnder. Pull the plug when it feels locked up and pull again, if it blows gas out of the plug hole you have carb problem. Maybe needle is ****, maybe float has a hole in it and is sinking causing flooding.

How do I start my TU26 Mitsubishi

switch it on, pull the choke ,press the primer bulb until it is full with not bubbles , hold the throttle full open, pull the cord several times
if it fires open the choke, press the primer once , hold the throttle wide open and it should go after 1-2 more pulls
hold the throttle open for several seconds after it starts
if you do not get a fire , remove and clean the plug

Install wire on spark plug. Turn switch to "on".Prime the gas with a 2-3 pumps, close the choke and give cord a pull. Don't pump the primer again or you can flood it out. Open the choke and pull cord until it starts.

How to start a Stihyl gas trimmer?

here are the steps to starting most stihl trimmers:

#1 turn the choke on (should be a little black knob or an orange switch on the engine itself)
#2 press the primer bulb 3-4 times (should be a little plastic/rubber bubble again on the engine)
#3 put trimmer on ground or bench (I find ground works best)
#4 pull the pull cord fast and hard away from the engine
#5 once it starts turn the choke back off

It should start easily, start with fresh fuel/oil, pump the primer as many times as it takes to 3/4 fill the bulb, pull the choke fully out, crank the engine until it fires once, push the choke fully in and crank again until it fires up, after re fueling a warm engine, pump the primer again until it 3/4 fills the bulb, before cranking the engine pull the choke fully out and in again( this will engage the part throttle ) then crank the engine until it fires up.

The procedure for starting an engine is as follows:
  • Check that you have the throttle in the start position and/or on high revs with choke on
  • Prime the engine by pushing the button about 5 times
  • Pull out the cord until you meet resistance. Then let the cord go fully back into the engine and then pull the cord out sharply. Repeat this until the engine starts but not more than a few times.
  • If the engine doesn't start, try pressing the primer button another few times then try to pull start the engine
  • If the engine doesn't start after a few pulls it may have flooded so leave it for a few minutes before pulling the starter rope

How can you start a Ariens 824 snowblower

Ignition key on, throttle three quarters on, full choke, press primer 3 or 4 times, pull cord. Should cough, maybe start and run rough, then as it's chugging, turn choke to half, then quarter choke, let it warm up slightly, then choke off.

Did you check the oil before you ran it. They usually come dry and you have to but oil in before running. Sounds like motor might be blown.

I'm not sure how to start a Craftmans 6.50 lawn mower. Is their a primer button, A start button? Do I need to hold the top bar down when pulling cord? I tried the bottom bar and that just lock the cord...

Look for a red primer button/bulb and push it in slowly 3 times at the middle of it
if you do not have a primer then just hold the top bar down and pull the rope 2 or three times until it starts
check your oil first to be sure you have a safe zone reading on the dip stick before all of the above is attempted. The bottom bar maybe a self propelled engage lever which you can use after it starts.

Starting my petrol mower

depending on age of machine set the throttle to maximum revs, and pull the starter cord but newer models have a primer button located on carburettor which is locked just under air filter (black or red colour) push it three times( you should hear it inject fuel) and then pull starter cord, some of these engines have a pre-set throttle ,main concern is that if it has not been used for some time you will need to clean carburettor out, replace diaphragm and remember to use fresh fuel(not older than 90 days) this should cure your problem
