Question about Olevia 227-s11 27" 720p 1080i Hd Lcd Television Hdtv Energy Star Flat Screen

1 Answer

I have an Olevia flat screen TV. Lost the sound.

Found the bad resistor. On the back side of the board. Resistor 86. Can one tell me the resistance value of it. Mine is burnt and the numbers can't be read. Other resistors around it are 1/4 watt rated at 6800 Ohms. This is a 1/2 watt.

If the resistor is found burned; there should be a reason. IC short or some sort of that. Without rectifying the fault; if you replace it with an other resistor; it too will burn out, sometimes cause more fault to set. Check for the reason first. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

Thanks for the post. I will check it out. Most likely just a spike took out the resistor. It is low voltage and the resistor is mounted to ground. I was just going for a quick fix. Before throwing the scope on it. I fix car computers, again low voltage, And most times it is because of a faulty part, Not the IC.

The treadmill have dcmd67 control board I need to know what value resistor R 19 have

I can't help you (directly) with the resistor value, but be aware that if it exploded, there is probably another bad component (such as a capacitor, transistor, and/or an SCR). Replacing only the resistor may result in the same problem, or may not even work at all due to another bad component. If you do find out the value, try putting in a resistor of the same value, but with a higher wattage rating. I once had a washing machine in which the model had a known problem with circuit boards blowing. I solved it by replacing a bad transistor and installing a higher wattage resistor that had blown up like yours. It never failed again. The way I found the value of the blown resistor is, I looked up a replacement board online, then magnified the photo, and looked at the color code on that same resistor in the photo. How I found the bad transistor is too complicated to explain in few words, but you can google the procedure. (You'll need a multi-meter at the very least; preferably _with_ a built in transistor checker. However, a _totally_ blown transistor can be found with only the resistance settings on a regular multi-meter).

Best of luck...

hi the problem wouldnt be the screen instead your probably right with the video card if the screen was dead it would stay black but with it changing slightly you know the screen is gettin power.
When you press the controll does an led flash on the telly to tell you the controll is working just incase the telly is stuck on an av channel.
If you have got a dvd player hooked upto the telly switch this on with the telly on and see if the telly will work using the dvd player this would rule out the fault being with the ports on the telly not picking up the signal.
If this still dont change anything then it could either be a resistor gone or a couple or it could be what you thought with the video card/controller but their is no way of knowing without testing the resistance at certain points on the board but it deffinately wouldnt be a problem with the screen so it shouldnt cost to much to repair.
It mgith be a case that the telly has overheated and blown a resistor thse can be brought for pennys but locating will be the problem let me know what you want to do and wether you are considering doing the repair yourself if you are you will need schematics to follow off and also multimeter to test resistance at certain points on the board.

42 inch LG Plasma TV Lost Picture

Hi it sounds like it has had an elctric fault like a resistor failing.
The click you heard would be a internal switch that cuts off the elctric supply to the screen to stop furthe damage hapening.
It could even be something simple like a bad solder and in that case will need locating and resoldering.
How old is the telly and how often is it used.
When you switch it off leave it off for about an hour then try again if you have allready done this then it probably is a blown resistor are you sure nothing has been pressed on controll have you tried seeing if you can acess the menu screen via the remote and see if that comes up on the screen let me know ok

There is no sound

Look at the top of the main board. There are two capacitors together. Look at the area just to the top of the board and behind the capacitors. There is a very small resistor(flat) soldered to the board. I had the same problem, so I removed bad resistor and replaced it with a 10 ohm resistor from Radio Shack. Sound is back. Cost a couple of bucks and took about an hour in all. Hope this helps.

How to determine a good or bad resistor?

Hello,

First of all you need to know the resistor value and tolerance. This can be found here:

http://www.csgnetwork.com/resistcolcalc.html

Secondly, with most resistors you would need to de-solder one end of the resistor.

Finally, you measure the resistor with a mutimeter set on the Ohms setting.

If you are lucky enough to access a Huntron Tracker, you can get a good idea without de-soldering one end.

There are many good videos on youtube that may be of help. Here is just one:

Good luck. Thanks for using Fixya.

Polariod FLM 3232 no sound

The audio circuit is located on the main board. You might be able to find one on ebay or shopjimmy.com. Just search your model number and look for main board. Just look at the pic and make sure it looks like yours before buying one.

The most common problem for no audio on this set has been a 10ohm resistor located on the top right corner of this board that fails. The location number is r385, which will be stamped on the board beside the resistor. If it's open(bad), you could change it and save a lot of money.

LCD TV TroubleshootingThe defective LCD TV may have the following common symptoms:

Symptom: No picture on screen but LCD TV still has sound.
Solutions: The problem is cause by defective inverter. Replacing ivnerter will solve hte problem. Symptom: Screen flash on and off between 1/2 to a few seconds, but power indicate light stays on and TV still has sound.
Solutions: The problem is cause by defective inverter. Symptom: Blue Screen but no picture
Solutions: The problem is cause by defective Main Board(AD Board). In some cases, this problem may cause by the defective Screen Controller board. Thsi board is mounting on teh back of LCD TV Scree. Symptom: Power light stays on but no display and sound
Solutions: The problem is cause by defective Main Board(AD Board) or Power supply board. Symptom: No Power or Power indicate light does not lits
Solutions: The problem could cause either by defective Power supply board or defective Main Board(AD Board). Symptom: Screen is half dim and half bright
Solutions: The problem is cause by defective LCD Panel. It needs to be replace.

This is a power supply problem. Try to check the fuses ,fusable resistor ,capacitor and transistor in power supply board.

Hope it may help you;

No sound, blue screen with blur of red, an green

the resistor overheated as a result of the diode or the capacitor went bad. Your gonna need to get a schematic diagram and find out what the part #s are as you cant just put in any type of diode capacitor or resistor. Also see what thay voltage source feeds and make sure nothing else is shorted.. Good Luck
