F you know they are in the pump, you also know where the pump is. Now some machines have a simple clip or clamp arrangement to access the impeller. Others have to have a few screws removed. Either way it is a simple matter to fix must disconnect the power cord from the socket while you are under the covers!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Remember, water and power and stupidity do not mix well.
Just remember the reverse sequence to put it back together. Do make sure that the coins are not caught in the filter. Some front loaders have a strange access to the filter under a flap in the drum.
If this is working as it should, the coins should not get to the pump. If the filter is broken, get a new one.

Washer Repair Boise - Whirlpool Cabrio Pump

I've replace many pumps on the whirlpool Cabrio and most of these washer pump failures could have been prevented by removing coins from pockets. Many times coins will make there way to the outer tub and get sucked right into the pump to create a rattling sound. That rattling sound you hear is the impeller spinning against the coin. Since the impeller is plastic, it doesn't take long for the impeller to wear down. Just a tip, please remove coins from pockets. You'll save money and time :->.

Error code 20

Is it an E20 error code? The E20 error code is usually something clogging the pump system follow these steps to check. From the bottom and back panel you can access the drain hose/pump/coin catch. With a pair of pliers you can remove the clamp holding smaller end of the rubber coin catch to the tub, with a Phillips screw driver you can remove the larger clamp of the rubber coin catch to the tub. From the back panel you again use your pliers to remove the clamp to the drain line, and finally with a Philips screw driver remove the two screws holding the pump to the bottom of the washer. Oh yes, do not forget to unplug the wire from the pump. Now pull the pump out with the black rubber boot still attached. Mark the orientation of the pump to the boot with a sharpie pen, and remove the last clamp. Now look inside the black rubber boot and gently remove the plastic basket inside and remove any thing that does not belong, reassemble ant test.

I have coins down in the tub causing loud noises during drain. What is the best way to get them out?

I have the same problem with my Cabrio, coins sneak into the ejector pump. They make a heck of a racket when the machine drains.

You need to:

1) Disconnect the plug and the hoses.
2) Tip the machine forward, it's easier to work on. Put the styrofoam shipping ring back in the tub, it keeps things from rattling around.
3) Take the back off.
4) The ejector pump is at the bottom right (as seen from the front.) You need to remove the discharge hose, it's held on by a spring clamp. I've found that vise grips work well for this. Slide the clamp up the hose, then pull the hose off.
5) Remove the clamp from the front of the pump in the same way.
6) Remove the pump. It's held by 3 screws, then pull the pump off the input hose. Tip the pump down, the coin should fall right out.
7) Put the hoses back on before screwing the pump back in. The hoses have an index mark that match up on the pump so you can't put them on crooked.
8) Put the back on.
9) Wonder why Whirlpool left a space big enough for coins to drop through, and really search the pockets when you do the wash.

For the FAV6800A or FAV9800A tumbler removal.

The Service manual has the procedure starting on page 37 for the tumbler removal.

It’s not difficult to remove the manual doesn’t call out the Torx driver size required for tumbler removal. You will need a number 20 Torx driver to remove the Torx screw for tumbler removal. I would get a long Number 20 Torx driver for this. See page 37 of the Service Manual for tumbler removal. Looks worse than it is.

The Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference.
When I did a recent Outer Tub Bearing replacement I found $1.78 in coins after removing the wash basket. Gotta check those pockets....:)

I have a post around somewhere of my diy Sump Screen I put in my FAV6800AW to protect the drain pump impeller from coins and other stuff from breaking the impeller or causing clogs. I'll look for the post or repost the pic's.........D*ick

Washer doesn't drain just buzzes

Most likely you have a coin stuck in the drain pump. Mine did the same thing, and we removed the drain pump, then removed the coin and it began working again. Just be sure to check all pockets for coins as this is a big problem with the Cabrio washers.

I have had this same problem, coins get in the discharge and recurculation pumps. Tip it on its front side remove pumps 3 screws each, unplug wires remove 4 phillips screws and remove black housing off pump and clean, reassemble. Don't forget to check outer drum for more coins.
