Is everyone's cell phone number being released to the public and will we receive telemarketer calls unless we call a specific number to stop them?

Does everyone with a cell phone need to call to keep telemarketers away?

No, your number is not being released to the public. But at the same time be smart, keep it off of places like social media I.e. Facebook, Twitter etc. Then more exposure you have, the higher the likelihood for telemarketing, spam and so on!

If you can remember the site that you registered and gave them you phone number, login to the site and change your profile or account settings, this time remove your phone number from there but if it requires you to include a phone number put another one

SOURCE: I am receiving annoying unsolicited

You will have to arrange that with your mobile network operator.
Please contact their hotline and ask if they offer such service.

As a simple workaround, if that company's number shows up on the display when they call, then you can add it to your phonebook with "appropriate" name and just ignore their calls when you see that it's them calling.

Are ALL Cell phone numbers going public?

Quite possibly. After registering for the Do Not Call list, I started getting even more calls from telemarketers, more robo calls. I just have a simple little flip phone, don't want anything fancy. I set it to announce who's calling, and if I don't recognize the number, I don't answer. Not answering is the best way to deter these callers. The most obnoxious I have set to NO RING, so if they do call, I am not bothered.

I have no instructions with my phone

1. Plug phone in telephone jack.
2. Wait for it to ring.
3. If it does not ring for 7 days, check for dial tone.
4. When phone rings, lift receiver, put it to your ear and say 'Hello?' politely into the mouthpiece..
5. If it is a telemarketing call, say 'No, thank you' and hung up gently. Slamming the receiver down hard only hurts your new phone. The telemarketer only hears "click".
Avoid yelling and using foul language; this will make the telemarketer very unhappy because he failed to upset you.
6. If after 30 days none of your friends call you, lift receiver, wait for dial tone and dial their numbers using the keypad.
Call them at 4am, preferably on a Monday, and when you hear them, say 'HEY BUDDY!!! GUESS WHO!!!' andmake sure they have your phone number and get them to call you back right away to prove it.

How can I block telemarketers from calling me. I pay for call block on my phone bill, but it does not work.

When a telemarketer calls tell them "Remove this number form your calling list now (then tell them your #). Then you can hang up!!!

It is the LAW that if you tell the telemarketers not to call your number back, they can't.

If they do call back again after telling them not to call back they can get in serous they never call back.

I had this problem when I got my new phone number that was used previously.Know no one calls me!!!

the Phone block you have only blocks a certain list of well known Telemarketers.
