Question about Denon DP-300F Turntable
I have a problem with a brand new one. At first everything was fine. Third disc, all of a sudden it turns extremely slowly. Like a minute per turn type of slow. It seems the motor is turning slowly. It is not a belt issue. Everything is brand new and clean. No grease or dirt or anything mechanical that seems to be in the way. Do you have any suggestion ?
The turntable should be under warranty still so contact the makers and they should sort it out. Any tampering with it could void any warranty so don't let any unathoriesed person touch it.

SOURCE: belt fell off
There are two main types of phonograph turntable drives still being manufactured today, the belt-drive and direct-drive systems; the names are based upon the type of motor system found in each.
In a belt drive turntable the motor is located under and to the side of the platter and is connected to the platter by an elastomeric belt.
The design of the belt drive turntable allows the use of a less expensive motor than the direct-drive turntable. Also, the elastomeric belt absorbs motor vibrations which would otherwise be picked up by the stylus.

SOURCE: platter turns slow
This turntable design has a direct drive system instead of belt drive (two types). If this unit has been in storage for some time, it has most likely been at hot or cold tempuratures - not good for any electronic/mechanical system.
My guess is that the direct drive motor needs to be rebuilt - internal friction is probably keeping it from operating at proper speed. Best to consult with a repair shop that can handle direct drive turntables - several on the internet, if you cannot find one locally.
BTW: You can find a manual for this at : http://www.vinylengine.com/library/denon/dp-45f.shtml
