Question about Sennheiser RS 120 Consumer Headphones

1 Answer

How do I get sound to my Sennheiser RS120 wireless headphones when it shows as working properly?

I am currently not able to get any sound through the headphones. When I plug the jack into the stereo receiver everything on the headphones receiver lights up as it normally does. The on/off button lights as well as the input light showing that all is normal. Yet whenever I try to turn the headphones on themselves I get no sound at all. I will not even get the little beep that you will normally get when you turn the headphones on or off. I have tried to plug and unplug the power source. I have disconnected the plug at the rear of the headphones receiver. I have even changed to brand new rechargeable batteries and it didn't change a thing. Anyone know of something that I can check or have possibly forgotten? Thanks for any help or info!!

Dirty volume control on headphones. Try moving the volume control back and forth several times to clean off the contacts.

is there a frequency channel selector on the headphone base, and on the headphones? the two pairs must be on different frequencies, or they will pick up the same show as the other

How do you connect the Sennheister RS120 Wireless Headphones to Samsung Smark TV?

You should have either a digital audio out port in the back of your tv or color coded analog out ports. Are you sure you have the cables plugged into the appropriate ports? I made the same mistake when hooking mine up, sometimes the print identifying the ports is very small. Also, since the headphones are wireless you may be receiving some kind of interference from somewhere. If you live in an apartment complex or next to a power substation that could be an issue.

How do I charge batteries?

The headphones will automatically charge wirelessly when placed in the cradle that should have come with the package. To make sure the headphones are placed correctly, a red light should illuminate letting you know they are being charged and are properly placed.

Sennheiser RS120 with noise...

Couple of things could be going on..

Try the obvious first

1. Select a different channel on the base unit: Located on the front, under the logo is a small switch. Note the position and try the other two settings
2. Make sure your base unit is not next to other items that may interfere with it.. cordless phones and wireless network routers etc.. microwaves or other RF sources .. fluorescent lamps.. etc

Lastly.. just about all wireless headphones have some noise or background hiss.. but it should be minor.. if the rechargeable batteries are not taking a full charge or cannot retain the charge properly.. the reception will also weaken.. and that noise will increase.. and the reception distance will decrease.

You can buy a new set of rechargeable batteries .. just make sure they are exactly like those in your headphones..

If I remember right.. they are Nickel Metal Hydride… (NiMH).. Radio Shack will have them.. or a store like Batteries Plus.. If you replace them.. go for a slightly beefier battery.. a higher mA-h.. may take a bit longer to charge initially.. (If you try this.. remember.. they will need to charge overnight before use) but will “play” longer in use.

It has been noted that many of these headphones shipped with inferior batteries.. that problems seems to have been addressed by the mfg.

Good Luck!

RS120 Can still hear TV when headphones are on

Ok.. first.. the simple thing is to go into your television menu and turn the television speaker OFF.
Then exit the menu and turn the volume up.. try your headphones now.

Next.. check the back of the TV for a FIXED AUDIO OUT.. plut your headphones into these outputs.. if you have these.. you can simply turn the set down.. and use the volume control on the headphones.
