Question about Garden

I have a new Holland TZ25D, 240 hours. A few months idle, now it starts perfectly, but will not continue to run when the range lever is moved, or the pto from the rear position, The deck rises and l

Doesn't want to run after engaging the drive speed. Mower goes up and down fine, but will not engage. If you attempt to either put the tractor in high or low range to run, or move the PTO from the rearmost position, the engine rapidly dies. Also, the forward or back motion pedals don't work because the hi-lo range selector kills the engine

SOURCE: engine chokes & dies when deck PTO engaged...

you need to start with your electric clutch and then backwards to your idler pulleys and deck spindles and bearings.
your electric clutch should almost stop the blades instantly when disengaged ,check the center bolt in the clutch to be sure it is tight also
remove the belt from the electric clutch and energize clutch any noise? sometimes the bearing goes bad in the clutch itself.
check all of your 3 spindles for noise and loose. remove belt and spin by hand and listen for quiet and they should turn free with no binding
check blade tightness
any item the belt goes around needs to be looked at for secure and operable.

SOURCE: the engine run rough and backfires when deck is lowered with pto

It sounds like your blades may be restricted when you lower them. A possible solution for this problem would be to remove the mower deck and clean out all the dead grass buildup inside the housing.

SOURCE: PTO CONTROLS. How do you engage and disengage PTO.

The tractor is not a 6300 is it.If it' not you need to adjust the cable for the p.t.o. until it will stay down.Don't turn the turnbuckle too much at a time because there is a fine line between the won't engage and the won,t disengage adjustment.

How can I check automatic transmission fluid?

GM actually wants you to take it to a shop or the dealer. They stopped using a dipstick.
Here is the method - -

Start the engine and allow the engine to idle until the transmission fluid temperature has reached at least 105degF. Depress the brakepedal and move the shift lever through the gear ranges, pausing a few seconds in each range. Return the shift lever to the PARK range.

Remove the fluid vent cap. (red capon drivers side top of trans)
Raise the vehicle on a hoist(or support on jackstands)
. The vehicle must be level, with the engine running and the shift lever in the PARK range.

Remove the transmission oil level control plug(its a small usually 10mmhex bolt on the right/passenger side of trans, below and in front of the right hand axle.)

Check the fluid level. The fluid level should be even with the bottom of the threaded plug hole.

Add DEXRON®IIIautomatic transmission fluid in increments of 0.5 L (0.5 qt) until the fluid drains from the plug hole.

Where do we check the transmission fluid?

  1. Start the engine and allow the engine to idle until the transmission fluid temperature has reached the value specified.
  2. Depress the brake pedal and move the shift lever through the gear ranges, pausing a few seconds in each range. Return the shift lever to the PARK range.
  3. Raise the vehicle on a hoist. The vehicle must be level, with the engine running and the shift lever in the PARK range. Refer to Vehicle Lifting and Jacking in General Information. Caution The engine must be running when the transmission fluid fill plug is removed, or excessive fluid loss will occur. Transmission fluid may be hot. Since the actual fluid level is unknown, stand clear when removing the fill plug. Have a container ready to capture any lost fluid. Do not turn the engine off with the fill plug removed, as you can be injured by hot transmission fluid being expelled out of the oil fill opening.

  4. Remove the transmission plug. Important The transmission fluid may darken with normal use and does not always indicate contamination or oxidation.

  5. Check the fluid color. If necessary, use a small screwdriver as a dipstick.
Is the fluid color clear red or light brown with no burnt odor?
