Please post the brand and model of your machine, and a picture of the area where you insert the bobbin.

Thread does not wound evenly on spool. Therefore when sewing it goes crazy with the thread on underside of fabric and then jams. What can I do to keep thread going on the spool evenly?

Your talking about the bobbin? If so your not threading it properly to feed the bobbin while winding. Sounds like you don't have the proper tension from proper threading.

Bobbin not winding tightly

Consult your owner's manual. Possibly, you are not threading the bobbin winder correctly. The thread does go through a tensioner somewhere along the way that creates tension on the thread.
Janome MEMORY CRAFT 9700 Instruction Book Threading For Bobbin Winding
Or perhaps the tensioner is not working properly.

If neither is problem, then you can always pick up a stand-alone bobbin winder (Amazon, JoAnn's, etc) for ~$30. One brand is called Sidewinder. These bobbin winders are marvelous because you can wind bobbins without unthreading your machine. It also saves wear and tear on your machine.

Or take your machine for service.

When threading Singer 57817 sewing machine, it won't pick up the

take out the bobbin, pull some thread from it. is it coming smooth without effort?
if yes, keep some thread outside and put back the bobbin and try again.
if thread is not coming out smooth, then check if something is stuck in the bobbin.

I am trying to do letter embroidery on my Futura 350 and I keep getting constant error messages about thread breaking even when there is no visible sign of that. Also, the bobbin thread side is bunching...

Check out your threading with "Machine setup" Tutorial under Help submenu and whether the thread tension control on the front panel is set to "E".

P.S. The error message about thread breakage appears not only when the thread is really broken but if the sewing speed is not changing smoothly (for example if design is not optimised).

Tread getting hung up in the shuttle

HI!

In most cases when thread is nesting, bunching, ect..it is a result of top threading. Be sure that you have the thread through the proper threading guides, most importantly, the "take-up lever" (that is the silver hook that moves up and doen in time with the needle). This should resolve the problem regardless of the machine.

Kenmore 158.19141 help!!

Hello. The 158.19141 is probably the best Kenmore sewing machine around. I use two of this same model in my sewing/alterations business and they have been totally dependable. (I also have 3 vintage Kenmore computerized machines) but the 158.19141 is my favorite model. The problem sounds as though there is dust/dirt/lint in some of the parts in the machine. Take off the feedplate, vacuum and or use a lint brush to loosen any threads and lint. Take out the bobbin case and bobbin: inspect for lint and dust. Take out the bobbin shuttle (which tends to make the threads bunch if it has lint build up). Clean or vacuum, PUT A DROP OF OIL ON THE CENTER PIN, and replace.

Oil the machine regularly. If it has sat around for months without use, it may tend to get sluggish.

Make sure your feeddogs are UP. Use an appropriate size needle for your fabric and make sure it is set properly. The flat side of the needle has to be facing to the north of the machine; and make sure the needle is inserted entirely up and tightly into the needlebar.

Threading the machine properly and inserting the bobbin correctly is usually the answer to most frustrations with a machine. Good luck...and lucky you to have the Kenmore 158.1914 model.

Janome Memory Craft 9500 Troubleshooting

Have you tried a new needle?

If re-threading, changing the brand of thread, etc. does not work, then it's likely your machine is out of time. Search for sewing machine timing or take it for service.
