How do I replace cord jack on a Peavey bass guitar?

You'll need needle nose pliers, small phillips head screwdriver, soldering iron, electronics-grade solder, socket screwdriver or 1/4" wrench, black electrical tape. Purchase necessary replacement jack. Remove plastic electronics cover plate, located on the back of the body, behind control knobs. This will expose the electronics cavity. Locate existing jack and its wire connections inside the exposed cavity. Remove any electrical tape covering the jack connections. Using a hot soldering iron, touch each of the two soldered input jack connections, one at a time, just until the soldered connection melts. Then, disconnect the associated wires (taking note of which wire connects where!). Once disconnected, loosen and remove the nut on the outer part of the jack that holds it onto the guitar body. Remove the old jack. Insert the new jack (with the nut removed) into the existing hole, from inside the electronics cavity and tighten it in place, on the outside of the guitar body, with the nut. Re-attach the wires to the new jack, by using needle nose pliers to wrap them tightly around the correct posts. Touch the hot soldering iron to each post and apply a small amount of solder to the post as it's being heated. Once the molten solder runs over the connection and looks shiny, remove the tip of the soldering gun. This process takes only 2 to 3 seconds. Let the connections cool for a few seconds. To insulate, wrap connections with black electrical tape. Replace cover plate.

I am replacing in my Hunter Fan Model 21887A a new Hunter universal wall mount control Model No. 99120. However, I note there are only three wires from the receiver connecting to the fan, black, white, and...

I've never seen a receiver with those colored wires unless it came with the fan. If it did, you probably won't be able to use it in this fan. Also, there is nothing Universal in the fan business no matter what it says on the box.

Sounds that the wireless adapter daughter board is either loose or failing. First, we need to make sure it is making good contact with the laptop's motherboard. In order to do this, we have to do the following:
1. Turn off the laptop & remove the battery.
2. Look at the compartments in the bottom of the laptop. You should be able to see 2 or 3 areas with small rectangular plates covering them. These plates usually have one or 2 screws holding them in place.
3. Check which one of those plates is the one which covers the wireless adapter daughter board. When you find it unscrew its screws & remove it.
4. Below the plate, there will be a small daughter board screwed to the laptop's motherboard, with 2 thin wires attached to it (usually one black wire & the other is a white wire). Gently, remove both wires using a small flat screw driver to pull them out gently. Don't forget to note down which wire connects to which connection point.
5. Unscrew the wireless adapter daughter board & remove it from its slot.
6. Clean both the slot & the daughter board's terminal connectors using a dry electric contact cleaner. You can purchase it at an electronics store.
7. Leave the slot & the daughter board for a while to dry.
8. Re-place the daughter board back in the slot & screw it to the motherboard.
9. Reconnect the 2 wires.
10. Screw back the covering plate.
11. Put back the battery & turn on the laptop. Check if the problem was fixed.

If this did not fix the problem, you will need to repeat the steps to remove the wireless adapter daughter board & replace it with a new one.

Is it easy to change our the receiver for Hampton Bay fans

Yes it is not that hard to replace an existing receiver with a new one. Caution: Turn off the power to the fan at the service panel. Remove the cover next to the ceiling which normally will have screws on the side or on the bottom under a plastic cover you remove by turning or pulling off. Inside the mounting bracket you will see the receiver. Carefully pull it out and take notice of how the wires from the receiver are connected and how the receiver was placed inside the mount. Look at the dip settings on the old receiver and set the new receiver exactly the same. The transmitter and receiver dip settings must be the same or it will not work so it is critical the new receiver settings are set exactly as the one you are removing. Now, remove one wire nut at a time and connect the new receiver exactly as the old one was connected. Make sure to tighten the wire nut securely with no bare wires showing. Slightly pull on the wires to make sure they are secure. Tape this up with electrical tape as a security measure. Once you get all the wires connected put the receiver back inside the mount just like it was. Replace the cover and then go turn the power back on. You are done.

I have a trimatron dimmer which has a black, red, green and another red wire labeled 3 way. My box has two black , white, red and groud wire. this room has two seperate light switches that control the...

When you take the existing switch out of the wall, the existing switch will have one black screw and two gold screws. The wire that is connected to the black screw of the existing switch (probably on of the black wires from the box) connects to the black wire on the new dimmer. The other two wires (one black and one red from the box) that are connected to the two gold screws on the existing switch will connect to the two red wires on the new dimmer. Basically, wire from black screw goes to new black wire and wires from gold screws go to new red wires.

Need wiring diagram for 1967 camaro v8 changed from external regulator to alternator with internal regulator

I am assuming you are now using a 1976 style GM alt.
The most common and popular model.
You need one 10 gauge wire from the battery to the alternator output.
This can be run directly from the battery +.
Run a short 10 gauge wire from alt output to large wire at regulator plug on alt.
Run small wire on alt reg plug to Bat light wire.
A new alt regulator plug pigtail can be bought at any parts store and is recommended.

The existing regulator should have the connections marked.
One of those wires will be the bat light wire if needed.
If you have a amp meter or voltmeter in the vehicle.....use your existing large output wire (usually red) to hook up to the new alt output connection.

I'm installing a recreational-type West Marine stero in my Cape Dory sailboat. I have connected the speakers, hide the wiring, etc., and .wired a ground and hot wire to connect directly into my battery.I...

I'm assuming that this is a wooden or fiberglass hull (not a boat person). Ground for the radio needs to be either through the chassis (any existing screw or mounting stud on the radio will do) or via the manufacturers installed wire. That takes care of the NEGATIVE.

The Positive wire from the battery or from a switch must be attached to the correct input wire to properly power the radio, you can probably connect it to the memory (hold) input (which will drain your battery if left connected long enough) but that is not the best place.

Did this help? I am assuming that this is a new radio and you have the manufacturer supplied wiring diagram. If you do and my suggestion did not help, I could sure use a look at it to further advise you.

Connection between harmon receiver and A-bus in wall speakers...

There is a CAT5/RJ45 A-Bus interface on the back of the HK AVR 435. That needs to connect to your A-BUS "hub". HK has two hub products: ABH-4000 and ABH-4 (older). Then CAT5 cable can be run from this hub to Wall-installed room-specific controls. HK has the AB-2 product, but any ABus compatible wall control will work. From the wall control, you wire regular audio cable to the speakers. So, some of the questions/issues to solve are: where do the existing wires go that are connected to the in-wall speakers? Typically that location is where to place your in-wall volume and source controls. Then the CAT5 gets wired from those controls back to the hub. And all that's required is a single CAT5 from the AVR to the Hub.
