CO2 and flame "dancing"

This normally is caused by low gas pressure, or some blockage in the burners. Do not run this heater until it is fixed.

Set on pilot to lite heater. Once i release valve pilot goes off. This happened several times.

the pilot flame should sweep about 3/8" to 1/2" of the thermocouple. if this is happening then your thermocouple is bad and need to be replaced. pilot should be blue in color and be a sharp flame not lazy and yellow tipped

I have mpi monitor e 13 keeps coming up

E13 means that the flame rod couldn't detect fire during it's 300 second cycle. If you can see fire through the window, start by cleaning the flame rod.
If no fire is visable after 300 seconds, feel the ignitor cover. If it is warm, check the fuel system, chances are the ignitor is working. If it's cold you have a bad ignitor.

Our heater will ignite and run for a few minutes then it will shut down and not refire without powerig the unit off. also there is a heavy smell of kerosene. we are using dyed kero. we have tried bypassing...

Thanks for providing the model of your heater. Most folks don't.

Your heater has a photocell eye and a computer board (ignition control). This team monitors the flame. If the team does not like the color of the flame then they shut the heater down and that is the situation you are in. Now, you must troubleshoot & find the problem. Is it water in the fuel, incorrect air pump pressure, worn nozzle, cracked plastic cover, etc.

I have a monitor 2200 that is reading ee 13. what does that mean?

EE13 on a Monitor is one thing. The same code on a Toyostove is completely different. A Monitor EE13 means there was no flame at ignition. On a toyostove EE13 is the burner thermistor.

On the Monitor I would check my fuel tank. On the Toyo you may have to have the dealer help you, as it could be something easy like a very cold day or more complicated as a main circuit board.

All Pro 200t Will not ignite

John- the ignitor does not stay on for the duration of the running time. It only stays on for the first 5 seconds. This is long enough for the flame to ignite and perpetuate itself, assuming the fuel delivery system is up-to-par. The photocell monitors the flame color and if the flame becomes off-color then the photocell tells the control board to shut the unit down. Naturally, too rich or too lean affects flame color.

Now, I'm confused by your description "the heater cycles 3 times". Tell me more.

I'm glad to see that you checked the pump pressure. Have you used soapy water to check for air leaks all the way to the nozzle? A leak in the airline, fuel line, or a crack in the nozzle adapter will cause no fuel delivery, or reduced fuel delivery as well as reduced atomization of the fuel - all of which can cause a lack of combustion. A restricted fuel filter will cause starvation.

Eliminate all possibilities of a fuel delivery problem before you start blaming electronics because there is not much way to test the board or the photocell successfully without DESA's diagnostic tool. Unfortunately, replacement of the componants is cheaper than the tool.

Runs for 15 secc.'s to 1 Min. Then Shuts off...

Steve- You've got to understandhow it's supposed to work before you can fix it.!
  1. The ignitor only glows for 5 seconds. Just long enough to start combustion.
  2. The photocell monitors the flame color. If it doesn't like the color of the flame (or no flame at all), then it shuts the heater down. Does this sound like what may be happening?
You must troubleshoot the system and decide whether you are having a fuel delivery/mixture problem or an electronics problem.

Read these troubleshooting tips.

Good luck.

Wont fire

No solution. The electronic control monitors the flame in the heater using a photocell. The ligth intensity and frequency are monitored to insure that the heater getting a good burn and therefore not emitting a high level of toxic gasses.

Causes:
dirty photocell
bad fuel causing bad flame

Our monitor heater was reading E-01. We decided that we would try cleaning the back of the unit and we landed up cleaning all parts of the unit that were visible. We plugged it back in and it works fine again. Thank you for your time.
