Question about Pride Jazzy 1103 Ultra Standard Power Chair

2 Answers

Have a Jazzy chair, went unused for unknown amount of time, and won't turn on when not plugged in. When plugged in, if you press the power button, the lights blink repeatedly after a tiny buzz

Not sure on the exact model of Jazzy chair, sorry. Just got it today. Plugged it in and it's been plugged in for a couple hours now, still flashing. Tried pushing the power button, checking the connection and the wall adapter, etc. does not turn on AT ALL when not plugged in. I'm disabled so can't check the battery connection inside the chair, but can have someone try that tomorrow.

Could be connector oxidised, remove connectors and clean with rubber eraser and connect back. Battery could be almost flat.

Testimonial: "So I tried again, and the battery light flashes 10 times. I'm not really sure what to do about that - the manual says "excessive voltage has been applied to the control system - check the battery connections.""

Your charger is a "smart" charger. It doesn't recognize a dead battery as something it can charge. What I usually do is get access to the batteries, disconnect them (keep track of where the cables go), and use a car charger to give a quick boost to the individual batteries, one at a time. Use the low current setting.
Then hook everything back up and use your regular charger.

The small click noise is the parking brake releasing to allow you to drive. the flashing is called a flash code that will give you an idea of what is wrong. count the amount of lights flashing this would indicate the problem. Post the amount of lights flashing and some could give you the meaning of the code.

Blinking yellow wrench light on pride jazzy 614 HD

Your version has a Dynamic Controls model controller and joystick.
Unplug the charger and engage the motor/brake lever so the chair is no longer in free-wheel mode (con't push by hand)
Turn the chair off, wait 5 seconds, turn the chair back.
If chair still does not run and your wrench is flashing you have a problem. Count the wrench flashes - the flash count indicates the error detected. 3, 4, 5, and 6 flashes indicate and error with the motors.
3=Left motor fault
4=Right motor fault
5=Left brake fault (may not be engaged)
6=Right brake fault (may not be engaged)
Any other fault code usually means the electronics or wiring is bad and not worth fixing.

There is a 7.5 Amp ATO automotive fuse on the rear electronics tray that is probably burnt out. The ammeter will not work when this happens. Also, if you have a bad on-board charger that will inhibit movement of the chair. Unplug the on-board charger and see if you get it to move. Hope this helps.

My dad has not used his Jazzy for about 8 months and it only comes on when plugged in and not when it is not plugged in. What can I try?

Most likely the batteries have gone solid while it was sitting unused. The gel in the batteries requires them to be put on a charger at least once a week even if the rider is not using the chair otherwise the batteries will go bad. Replace the batteries and that will most likely solve your problem. If his insurance bought the power chair for him, they may cover the cost of the replacement batteries. The batteries cost $75-$120 otherwise, and you will need two of them.
Good luck!

Visit:Peeplo.com/Free+Repair+Manual & im almost sure as i have a disability scooter when its not in use use a decent trickle charger they can be left plugged in for up to 3 months,so your batteries are fully charged all the time & plug back in even if you do a 100 yards trip,lets be honest the batteries are not cheap,so get the most out of them.or if not in use for any period after they are fully charged disconnect them.

The chair is not recognizing the charger. If it is an off board charger, check the pins in the conncector to be sure that one has not been pushed back. On board, check to see if the amp meter moves at all.
