Question about Duraheat Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

Just pulled out my Duraheat 2302 heater. After putting in some Kerosene (that I purchased at Walmart, I lit it and black smoke emits. Is this a sign that I need to replace my wick, or is the kerosen

I tried to simply clean the wick to remove any tar.

I would suggest your wick needs replacing, it's unlikely to be the brand of kerosene.

I just replaced the wick, cleaned up the heater and filled with new K-1 kero. The heater (Dyna-Glo RMC-95-C7) is emitting black smoke worst than ever. The wick is burning a little unevenly.

Either the wick was improperly installed or you may not have allowed enough time for the wick to soak in the kerosene and become evenly distributed. Check the placement of the new wick and allow time (several hours) for the wick to absorb the kerosene.

My korosene heater is pumping out black smoke minutes after it has been lit.

Not enough combustion air flow to the burn will cause it smoke. Check to see if you have any kind of obstruction.

My Dyna GLo kerosene heater has excessive smoke and yellow flame

I'm wondering the same
Should a duraheat, etc., cylindrical convetion heater's flame be bright yellow, blue , or what? With the old wick the flame was blue, with the catalytic converter glowing red hot. Now with the new wick, I can't even see the CC, because the flame burns a bright yellow. Also I have to really fine tune it now. A wee bit too high, I get smoke and soot. A wee bit too low, same...smoke and possibly flame out.

HARD START AND BLOWING SMOKE

clean all of your filters and the spark plug and go back to useing K1 kerosene. Diesel fuel has a higher ignition temp. burns dirty and has a tendency to gel.
