I just got my Juki 1541 DNU walking foot machine. The light comes on, like the machine is on, but when I push the presser foot nothing happens.

juki-1541-detail-pupyr0ualaj20obfvyre1rzh-1-0.jpg Both the motor and the light work off the switch box separately USUALLY.
1. Look under your machine to see where the cord to the light is coming from. If the light cord is coming directly from the switch and the light is on, we can check that off our problems.
2. Now we need to see why the machine isn't moving. If you have a fairly new machine, it probably has a Servo motor which doesn't really make any noise when it runs. If you have an older larger motor, you may be able to hear the motor run when you turn it on. One way or the other, you still need to make sure if the belt is on both the motor and the hand wheel. Using a flash light or other bright light, follow the path under the machine of the black belt for your machine. It should go around a pulley on the right side of the motor and go up through the table and around the hand wheel on the right side of the machine. Because of the belt cover that is on your machine to keep us from getting things caught in the belt, it is almost impossible to see from up above. There is also a cover on the end of the motor sometimes and its hard to see in it.
3. If your belt does connect the motor and the sewing machine head as it should, press on the foot pedal while it is plugged in and turned on. If the motor pulley turns but the machine doesn't, your problem is in the machine. If the motor pulley doesn't turn, your motor is probably bad. If the motor turns, and the machine doesn't, try to turn the handwheel on the machine and see if it is jammed with thread or something else.
Once you isolate the problem, post again and we'll go to the next step. :)

Motor & belt turn, but the needle stops when it encounters normal cloth. Drive belt is NOT broken & the machine has hardly been used. Sews OK when turning the wheel by hand.

the drive belt is normally a cog type belt inside the head of the machine
I would be looking in that area and at the belt or at the tension of that belt
may be a service technician would be able to correctly adjust and fix the problem

I have a bernina E65 and it does not move any part ,you hear the motor but the neddle does not work, help? the manual is no help either!!

I assume you have cleaned and oiled the machine as per the owner's manual.I believe this model is belt driven. If so, the belt may have loosened or broken. Replacement is not mentioned in the manual so I feel a tech is needed. My mom's machine used to have a lever that engaged the machine and it wouldn't move with this lever in the up position.

    How can I fix a drop-in bobbin

    1. Cleaning and oiling the machine
      • 1 Unfasten the top, bottom, side and handwheel covers, using a screwdriver. Set the covers aside.
      • 2 Remove the plate that covers the thread bobbin. If it is screwed in place, use a screwdriver. If it is held by a clip or magnet, use a small flathead screwdriver to pry up the plate.
      • 3 Thoroughly clean inside all the openings, using a vacuum with crevice attachment. Remove any stubborn lint, and use tweezers to take out any thread that is wound around the parts.
      • 4 Clean the teeth on the gears, using the tip of a round toothpick to loosen the grime. Vacuum to remove it.
      • 5 Lubricate all the moving parts. Use white lithium grease on the gears, and sewing machine oil on the other parts.
      • 6 Reassemble the machine and plug it in.
Tightening or replacing the drive belt
      • 1 Remove the top cover, bottom cover and handwheel cover, using a screwdriver to take out the screws.
      • 2 Inspect the drive belt. If it is slack, use your screwdriver to loosen the screws that hold the motor in place, then follow step 4, below, to increase the belt's tension. If the belt is cracked or broken, get a replacement from your sewing machine supplier.
      • 3 Install the new belt. Loosen the motor-mounting screws, and shift the motor toward the handwheel so you can slip the belt over the parts.
      • 4 Shift the motor away from the handwheel to increase the belt's tension, then tighten the motor-mounting screws and check the tension. The belt should flex no more than 1/2 inch (12 mm). If it is too loose, increase the tension.
      • 5 Reinstall the covers and plug in the machine.

Probably the belt tension needs adjusting, it is slipping like a car fanbelt and needs the same relative "give" when correctly tightened.
Remove the side cover where the handwheel is and loosen the motor fixing to adjust and increase the tension on the belt ....needs some slack, if you can move the belt 10mm with light pressure then it will be fine NOT TOO TIGHT or you will overload the motor. NOTE: If the side panel is not easily removed, ie 2 piece casing split in the middle, take it to a service centre or risk breaking the casing trying to get in....if it is more than a few years since last service, let someone do it all and get a sweet machine back, with no risk for not a whole lot of time or money

The foot pedal does not make the machine sew but it sounds like the motor is working. The machine does work when you manually turn the hand wheel. It was working before I put the cover on the machine.

    Is the belt broken ?
Unplug, remove the side panel at handwheel and check....use the old one as a sample to take with you to buy a new one...DO NOT adjust the belt too tight on installation, it will overburden the motor.....or have the repair shop do the job for a little investment in peace of mind

Neddle screw wont tighten neddle in

There is a small metal rod about 1/2" long that fits into the hold in front of the screw that holds the needle secure. I didn't realize that I had dropped the rod until I could not tighten the needle. I found the rod, put it into the hole and was able to tighen the needle.
