Intercooler and EGR problem

Sometimes people get this low power and smoke problem in a turbodiesel car with an intercooler. Once it is not your injectors or turbo gone, you can solve it without buying new intercooler or EGR valve. You can actually clean them. It does take few hours of your time but cost you much less. All you need is few hours of time, a gallon (4-5liters) of diesel and same of petrol (better naphta but its hard to get in some places). First you need to take of the intercooler which might involve removing front bumper in some cars. Once you have it out, put it on the ground (do not damage the core) and fill it up with diesel. Cover the inlet and outlet (best with balloons) and leave it for few hours. Meantime you can take care of the EGR valve and inlet manifold. Using petrol and soft brush clean all visible parts but do not fill EGR with petrol too much as it must be complete dry before you put it back. Do same with the inlet manifold, just clean that oil/smoke build up. It is slagish but getting rid of it will add your engine extra kW/Bhp and some life to it. When you finish cleaning and drying the EGR and manifold your intercooler should have been a little "washed" by the diesel inside, shake it a little bit, the "balloons" should stop the diesel from spilling out, and leave it for 2-3 hours. After that time empty the diesel out of it and fill it with petrol (naphta) to wash out remainings of dirt and diesel, do it couple of times while shaking until the liquid is more cleaner, than dry the inner of the intercooler, make sure it is completely dry and as clean as possible as anything that will be wet with diesel may cause some serious problem. After drying and putting everything back, leave it for a while before starting the engine, this is to make sure that whatever remained undry will vapourize. Remember when you start the engine do not rev it up just leave it at idle for 10-20 minutes. This will add temperature that will dry up anything you've missed and not cause any damage as there will be not enough pressure. After this operation you will notice a change in the car's performance.

I have a Shimano 105 derailleur system with 105 shifters. Shifting on the front derailleur from the top to the bottom ring is very stiff and sometimes takes two attempts with quite a loud poping sound and...

First of all you need to properly clean and oil the derailleur itself. As it is spring loaded, the shifting from top to the bottom ring envolves the spring to be pulled, thus making it harder the more you downshift. When you go back (upshift), the spring itself helps to do that and you feel the shifting much more easy. The easy way to do this: Take the deraiileur off the frame, but do not dismantle it. Get the new paintbrush about 1 inch wide. Get about 1 litre unleaded petrol (better is lighter fluid, but it comes more costly). Get a bowl. Get the lubricating oil (preferably with graphite). Put the derailleur into the bowl and pour the petrol over it, just to cover. Leave for a few hours. Then take a brush and clean all the dirt and grime off by using the petrol already in bowl. When done, dry the derailleur with kitchen paper towel and clean the brush. Get rid of dirty, used petrol. Now use the rest of clean petrol and clean derailleur again, then dry in the same way. When done, apply lubricating oil to all moving parts generously (don't forget jockey wheels). When done, get rid of excess oil using paper towels again until it is nice and clean. Fit back to the frame, re-cable and see how it works. If after all the problem still persist, then there is some fault in shifter itself. To sort this you will have to go on to the Shimano website and download instructions for your shifters. Hope it will help. Leave feedback if you are satisfied with my advice.

It could also be due to the brush assembly channels being clogged. Remove the brush assembly and clean channels by running under warm tap water.
To clean the brush assembly/nozzle, turn cleaner off and disconnect from electrical outlet. Slide the two nozzle release latches outward. Remove the nozzle by pulling straight out. Rinse nozzle under running water. Remove debris from squeegee and wipe with a damp cloth. Using finger grips on the brush assembly, pull straight out. The brush assembly can be washed with a mild detergent and rinsed. Do not use pine or solvent-based detergents.
To replace nozzle, make sure latches are out. Align middle section of nozzle with opening on cleaner. While holding nozzle in place, slide latches inward to lock in place.

Make sure your solution tank is full and securely locked in position.

Lastly, if this fails, you can contact the Hoover Service Center by calling 1-800-944-9200 for an automated referral of authorized service outlet locations (U.S. only).

I washed some clothes with petrol on them now the washing and washing machine smells of fuel, how do i get rid of the smell of petrol from my washing machine? thanks Chris

Run the machine with no clothes, only detergent along with washing soda or baking soda, using hot water. Once or twice with this should do it.

Washing your mp3 depends on what you used in washing it for it t come on.

If it doesn't come on just follow this guide lines......

Get a screw drive that can open your mp3 player..
on screw it....

Get a brush(prefeed a tooth brush not used again), and a methylated spirit containing ethanol 95%....

Apply a little drop of your methylated spirit on the inside of your mp3 (the board with alot of chips)....

brush a little on every side and pu *** close to a bulb or any thing hot to heat it for about 5 to 10 mins.....

When it become try, couple it back and put it on....

NOTE' after heating, make it dry before you couple it back...thank you.

believe it or not petrol, just be carfull that the whole engine is cold before using a stiff paint brush and some petrol to give it a good clean

No suction using extension hose for Bissell Bagless Upright vacuum. i checked for clogs and found nothing. shannon

Check the sole plate where the beater bar is. You may have to remove the roller brush flap to get into the roller brush and then check the main dust channel beside it. Usually if there's no suction on the hose it means that:
1) The hose is blocked 2) The filters are needing cleaned / washed and dried for 24 hours or see my tips! 3) There is dust clogging after the beater bar/roller brush.

A 91 model is simplicity,you have been putting on reconditioned units and the reconditioners have been using the cheapest bits,ie low output regulators .You could evan have junkyard units that have been washed in petrol then sold as reconditioned units.Get a proper unit from a autofactor with a warrenty
