Question about Televison & Video
A standard CRT television most likely doesn't support surround sound. Connect at least the FRONT L/R of your source to the stereo in L/R on the television. If you want to enjoy the full experience of surround sound, you should consider purchasing a surround receiver with all required speakers (5.1 / 6.1 / 7.1). They don't have to be expensive second hand (eBay and the likes).
