Want to add a second desk top computer to my home..was told by the cable company provider that i would have to.. add a second line $60 i s there any other way to add a second computer

Do you have instructions for the router? They should be available from the D-link site. Connect the router to the computer with a network cable. Type cmd into your run box on the start menu then type ipconfig into the window that opens and note the IP address of the DHCP server, which should be in the form 192.168.x.1 and log into it by opening your browser and putting that no. into the address bar. This allows you to control the router and examine its settings. With the information you obtain it should be possible to connect the computer wirelessly, using the either windows wireless manager, which should be an icon near the clock, or the program that belongs to the wireless receiver.

go ahead and power everything down. wait a minute then plug in your router. once all the lights are steady power up your pc. once complete go to run, type cmd and enter. At the prompt type ipconfig and enter. ping your ip address.

on the Internet connection. The other computers on your network then connect to
the host computer, and from there to the Internet through the host computer's
shared Internet connection.
If your computer is connected to a network, network policy settings might prevent you from completing these steps.
