splitters by their nature are flaky..i'd recomend you get a good phone line cable, since they are cheap, and simple..you have another phone line somewhere, to test the fax/cable combination, just to make sure?

check that the duplexer unit (or the panel where the duplexer would go) is inserted and locked correctly. if it's not the printer flashes the power light on very briefly and will not power.

SOURCE: how do i receive a fax do i need to plug phone

Yes, please. You do need to connect the phone line to your HP All in One. You will find a socket for the phone line to go into.

Dear sir,

Please remove the power cord of the printer(Faxphone) from the wall outlet and hold the power button for forty seconds and then release. After one minute try connecting the printer's power cord to the wall socket .This process would hard reset the machine. Hope this should solve your problem.

Kind regards

My cord has to be pushed in to socket and giggled to get the vacuum to have power? Any suggestions?

You might want to remove the electric plug from the wall and spread the prongs just a little bit, it sounds like the plug might be loose in the wall socket.....try it in another wall socket and see if the problem continues to exist...generally it you get the same result from similar wall sockets...you may have looseness in the electrical plug...meaning that you might have been unplugging the cord by grabbing the cord and snatching versus unplugging with the plug itself. Hope this helps.

I have the fax connected to the phone line with a splitter which is also connected to my portable phone and answering machine. when the phone rings it goes to answering machine if not answered and then to...

The fax machine should have two places on the back where you can plug in a phone cord. One of these is the input: where the cord from the wall goes, and should have either "in" or a picture of a wall phone outlet next to it. The other is used as a line through the fax machine and should have a picture of a phone or "out" next to it. Ideally, you would plug the fax machine directly into the wall and then your phone/answering machine into the "out" plug on your fax machine.

When in auto mode, the fax machine will listen in on the line when the phone rings and if it detects a fax signal (all the whirring and beeping) it will pick up the phone and receive. If there is no signal, it will simply allow the signal to pass through to the phone and answering machine.

I am having problems setting up the phone cords. what all do i need to plug in my fax machine

You should only need the power cord and a phone line. My Brother has 2 jacks for the phone line. One is a line in, (from the wall jack to the fax machine), the other is a line out, (for you to plug in a dial up computer connection or a second phone). Make sure you have the cable from the wall jack plugged into the line in, plug.

HP 7680 Fax paper will not go through

Have you checked that you can get a dial tone?
Can you recieve fax's?.
If no dial tone then check that you have the telephone cord plugged into the line jack on the back of the fax machine and not the tel or ext sockets.May be a telstra problem so plug another phone into the wall socket to see if you can dial out.
Also make sure that the fax is set to pulse dialing.

Fax is not going out and no signel in the receiver

Plug a compatable phone into the wall socket to see if you can get a dial tone.If not contact your phone company. If you get dial tone then check that you have the phone lead plugged into the line socket on the fax machine and not the extention or Tel sockets.

LINE IN USE

The line coming from the wall is plugged directly into the "L" socket (without anything in between)? Is anything plugged into the other (extension phone) socket? Usually, this message only appears if a "live" device is plugged into the extension phone socket. For instance, if you have an answering machine plugged into both a wall socket and the extension phone socket on the JX200.

I just looked at the "Easy Setup Instructions" posted on Canon's web site, and in Step 3, the words are correct, but the diagram in the square box is backward. Let me know if you are still having problems.

Panasonic KX-FM220 fax machine does have a dial tone

I would double check your phone cord. There is usually 2 jacks in the back of the fax machine. 1 is for Line, and 1 is for phone.
Your phone cord should be hooked up in the LINE jack that goes to the wall.
I would also double check your phone cord on another phone to make sure the cord is good.
If you look at the clear connector that you plug into your wall and fax machine, does it have 4 copper/gold color wires contacts imbedded in the clear plastic connector?

Another thing to try, if you fax machine has a Line and a Phone connector, try plugging in a phone in the PHONE connector. Then hook up another phone cord going from the LINE to the WALL jack.
If you get a dial tone on your Phone, then you know you have it connected correctly. If no dial tone, then I would go back to the phone cord.
check those things and get back to me and I will see if I can help you with more suggestions.
Good luck.
Mac =)

Not receiving faxesBrothers fax-190

The phone line to begin with, can you get a dial tone when you press speaker button? Is it clear?  if no dial tone  then,  Is the phone line from the wall plug into the correct socket of the fax machine ? (it goes into the one marked line, not the ext one).....

next trick would be to plug in a normal phone to wall socket to insure we have dial tone and eliminate it being a telstra fault,

Could also be wise to check filter is installed on that line if we have recently installed ADSL Broadband.
