Stalls out

I own this generator and have the same problem. There is a design flaw that is likely the culprit. The engine uses a gravity fed fuel system. That's all well and good but that means the fuel must be above the highest point in the fuel line to feed properly. The easiest thing to do is completely fill your generator when you use it and it will die with 2-3 gallons of fuel remaining. If you want to fix the issue you will need to reroute the fuel line to be below the base of the tank for its entire length.

I have experimented with multiple fuel levels and fuel line configurations. I have also left the gas cap loose and removed fuel filter per recommendations from others. The base of the fuel tank on my unit is roughly 15.5 inches. The fuel valve is at 16.25 and the highest part of the fuel line is over 17! That simply will not feed fuel when the tank gets below 4 gallons and the generator will stall. Bad design by Ridgid on the fuel line routing. Only about a 30 minute fix though with some fuel line, cable ties and a small tool set.

Have a 18kw generator that keeps draining battery. Put a new charge on battery and started up fine. Went on vacation and when I got back battery was dead. Put new battery in and same thing has happened....

I am assuming the generator is not being maintained by grid power when in standby.
I would suggest breaking the live feed from the battery + terminal through a cheap (or expensive) ameter, accuracy is not important.
Try disconnecting any wires feeding the various parts of the electric system to identify where the leakage is.
If there is no Identifiable leak being indicated by the ammeter then there may be an issue with the battery.
If you are not able to identify what the issue is you could fit a very small float charger connected from the mains to maintain the battery, you would need to connect it's 12v output through a normally closed pole of a relay which is energised by the generator therfore disconecting it when the generator runs.
We have done this in the past on old / exposed units to keep them in a full state.

Check the connections on the tranfer relay and two coils. The two coils have blue wires. I have seen them come off from assembly or shipping its common. Each coil has two blue wires #8 and E1 with crimp steak ons and limit switches make sure there all pushed on all the way. Hope this helps

Generator appears to try and restart by itself when engine is switched off

This sounds VERY bad. As in your transfer switch is not removing main line power from the generator vs just monitoring mainline power. You more than likely have main power feeding into the stator driving the armature and motor. Or you don;t have a transfer switch and are leaving the generator breaker at the house main CB panel tie point on vs turning it off.

UNLESS you actually hear the starter cranking then there is another problem. Feed back please.

My 10 years colman generator running ... I feed 240V to the main of the house, it used to work OK. But this time, most of my light bulb went bursted after 3-5 min. However, some are not... what has...

it sounds alot like it is producing alot more power than 120 volts per leg you should really only have plus or minus 10 percent of that voltage anymore will blow lights check voltage output with meter, if voltage is high may have problem with voltage regulator and it may need be replaced. I assume that not all of the lights in the house are on the same circuit therfore not on the same leg of the generator so is probably only one leg of generated power to high there for only blowing some of the lights

Sounds like the electritian wired something wrong. Control wiring for that generator should be:
N1 and N2 = 240 vac utility input
Wire 0 = ground
Wire 194 (15B) = + battery
wire 23 = transfer signal

Bought new XP8000e

Most people don't buy a transfer switch because they cost almost as much as the generator. Lowe's sells a very inexpensive one that will work for most people. It is made by GE and costs $92. Lowe's Item #: 42210 Model: TM860S. Good for 60 amps and 8 circuits. It takes standard GE half size breakers but includes the 60 amp main breakers (which are also standard but make use of a novel device that ensures you can't send power back up the pole). It's a great little design and if a breaker ever fails, you can get a replacement at Lowe's or Home Depot.
