You didn't put a model number in the question, yes, it's possible there is a switch or lever. if you have a manual it should have the information in it. but without being able to see the machine, I can't say for sure. try looking on youtube for a video. the next best thing I can suggest is calling a sewing machine shop in your area and ask them if they are familiar with the machine and ask them about the feed dog lever.

Feed dogs not pushing fabric through

Remove the needle plate and make sure there is no lint obstructing the feed dogs. If they are clear, it is usually the feed dog step motor gone bad. You should have your machine serviced by an authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer. You can find your nearest dealer at the Husqvarna Viking website - http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/us

Material won't feed through on kenmore 17600 sewing machine

Take out the material, take off the foot and needle. Stick your finger on the feed dogs and hand turn the hand wheel like sewing. Does the feed dog come slightly above the surface of the needle plate? If it does.... tighten the presser foot tension.

If it doesn't locate the switch that drops the feed dog. Make sure it's in up position.

If neither of those solutions work. Remove the needle plate and see if the feed dog or mechanism that runs it is broken

Good luck

Feed dogs won't move

No info on the sewing machine make or model. It sounds like something is binding up, is bent, or is tangled in the machine. Look around the front and back of the sewing area for a switch to lower the feed dogs.

Good luck

I dropped the feed dogs and they won't come back up.

Ignore all the other comments, they are wrong.
The feed dogs are driven by the feed driver mechanism, turn the hand-wheel forward and the feed dogs will come up. (Providing you have the feed dog switch to the up position).

I need to know how to lower the feed dogs on my Huskystar Viking E10

There is a switch on machine to raise feed dogs up/down. Remove any extension table to locate it because many of these options are located in the back of machine & hidden by table! Jimmy :)

Hand wheel not moving

Check bobbin area. Clean feed dogs with brush to remove lint balls & any loose threads. Use gentle back and forth motion on hand wheel to see if you can loosen debris. Be VERY gentle so you don't interfere with timing. Usually you will bring up one thread caught in feed dogs and you can sweep it out. If that's case here, I recommend inserting new needle, flat side back and make sure you raise presser foot before rethreading to open tension discs. Good luck. Jimmy

Have Viking 990 and feed dogs not working. Local repair man kept for over a month and then said it was the circuit board and that Viking no longer making circuit board for 990-- or, that machine can't be...

Is it that the feed dogs won't go up and down, or that you can't adjust the stitch length? If the feed dogs won't go up and down after you have released the feed dog button and cycled the handwheel one revolution, than there is a mechanical adjustment needed. I the stitch length can't be ajdusted, that It's either a circuit board of a step motor problem. The repair shop should be able to tell you that they swaped the feed motor with the zig zag motor to test this issue.

My Brother LS1217 does seem to be feeding the material properly

Are the feed dogs in the down position? There should be a lever in front or in back of the needle area..you may have to remove the freearm to find it. Once you flip that switch, you have to turn the hand wheel towards you almost a full turn to make the feed dogs pop back up.

If they are up & not moving...then something is caught in them...a bit of lint or thread probably.

Feed dog switch

Did you turn the handwheel? The feed teeth will not come up until the machine is operated. Run it a few stitches and they will come up.
