One thing to try is to shut it down, then restart it. A trick for many devices :)

Can you fix my polaroid mgm 0550 gps that is now a microsoft windows ce can you turn it back into a gps

Hi danpro,

You may try to reset your system (Polaroid MGM 0550) to put it back into gps. You can follow the following steps I have below:

To reset GPS.

1. Go to navigation mode.
2. Press and hold the map button below the display for 5 seconds. Then the GPS resets.
3. Verify that the GPS system is turned on. Touch Menu, Map Options, Settings, GPS Signal.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using Fixya.

No longer receives GPS signal

Does this unit have an input for an external antenna? If you get/borrow another antenna you could see if it starts working. That might isolate the problem to the antenna.

No GPS Signal in TomTom One XL all of a sudden

I suddenly lost the GPS signal today and could not get it back. All I got was the "No valid GPS signal". My solution was to tap on the GPS satellite bars when in the route map. this brought up the "Status summary page of the TOMTOM.

I then again tapped the satellite bar which brought up the "GPS Status" page. I then tapped the bar labeled "configure".

The radio button next to the option titled "Minutes (dm.m') was selected. I then moved the selection to "Degrees (d.d) and it started working.

I had just downloaded the GPS fix 5 days ago so it is not like this suddenly caused it to stop working.

This may not work for everyone but this is what it took to get mine working.

Cheers

No GPS signal?

I had this problem (waiting for a valid GPS signal). I did a factory reset and the unit started working again (yes, I lost all my settings, but what good is a GPS unit that just sits there waiting for a valid GPS signal?). To do a factory reset, go to menu -> change preferences -> Reset factory settings.

No gps signal

I have had my GPS( TOmTOM One) on Waiting for Signal for 2 weeks now and I finally fixed it.

My symptomtoms (word play) were no signal at open areas, when connected to Tom Tom Home it showed exactly where I was and worked through the PC but when disconnected back to the same thing.

I called Tom Tom CS and nothing, FLash did nothing, factory defaults nothing, and updating did nothing.

What I did:
I charged the unit completely.
I took a paperclip and while off pressed on the reset button at the bottom by SD slot. I held it there for 30 mississippi's.
I did not turn it on after letting go.
I went outside to my car (parked on roof of parking lot) turned it on and set it on my dash vertically.
I left and came back in 1 hour and wallaaaaa. It is working perfectly!

Let me know if this fixes it.
