Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

For the LG inverter direct drive does the bleach I put in the tray go in automatically? Or do I have to use a certain setting for it to release?? I would assume if it's in there it would be used, but the last 2 cycles I did it was still in the tray when it was finished, now I'm afraid to do a load of darks and have it release this time. Also, how can I get the bleach OUT of the tray?

The bleach goes in automatically. If there is liquid in there after the cycle, it might be leftover rinse water. You can dump in out by removing the whole drawer. Press down on the blue catch at the back to remove.

SOURCE: Liquid Bleach dispenser doesn't work correctly

This may not be relevant, but by design, bleach does NOT dispense in the Buly/Bedding, Kids Wear, and Silk/Ultra Delicate cycles. If you try to use it, it remains in the dispenser.

As for the yucky smell, leave the door open when not in use.

SOURCE: Whirlpool bleach dispenser not dispensing properly

It sounds like the bleach dispenser is clogged or has a crack in it. What we do, is when we bleach our clothes and I know that this is extra work, but we wait until the washing machine is full of water, then add the bleach directly to the wash.

SOURCE: L.G DIRECT DRIVE 7 WASHER / DRYER U.E ERROR CODE

My machine is doing just the same! It is about the same age as yours. I cannot believe this is it working properly, but the manufacurers are no help.

I am seriously thinking of getting rid of it, and would be loathe to touch an LG again.

Fabric softener premature release

In my case it was simply a matter of cleaning the nozzles that spray the water into the MAIN DETERGENT compartment. Turns our that when the washer was filling up, some nozzles were partially clogged and were directing water to the side where the softener compartment was, causing the fluid level to rise and therefore releasing the softener early. The washer was NOT spraying water in the softener side, what happens is that the dispenser tray is configured in a way that when the fluid reaches a certain max level in the softener/bleach trays, it completely drains. A way to test for this problem would be to completely dry the softener tray and start the wash cycle like you normally would (including detergent), only without adding any softener to the tray and see if after filling there is any water in the softener tray, this would prove that the water is coming from the other side.

When I put bleach in the bleach dispenser, it leaks out before I can close the dispenser drawer and runs down the front of the washing machine. I now have a bleached a spot in my carpet. I would really...

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
I suspect that it is the conditioner/softener (bleach?) tray which is causing water to overflow from the dispenser drawer so it needs a thorough clean,
paying particular attention to the sentences in BOLD ;-0)
-------------------------------------
Remove the complete drawer. To do this you will have to do one of the following-
  • Top catch- push down the lip/catch at the middle rear and pull the drawer out (that's how our Bosch one is removed)
  • release the catches underneath (our daughter's Indesit) or
  • lift upwards on the tray as it is coming out to clear the lip underneath.
One of those should enable you remove it
???
Once out identify which tray is for the conditioner- the others are simply 'chutes' and open-ended.
It will normally have some sort of cover over it which you must remove to expose the little stuck up pipe/tube. On some models there is just a small individual cap over the tube. The tube is down which the conditioner and water should siphon. It is likely to be blocked by 'gunge'- a mix of powder and conditioner. The whole of the tray, particularly this pipe and the bit which fits over it, must be completely clean and clear for it to operate correctly. It is worthwhile checking fairly regularly.

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

We have an LG wm2032hs. During the washing cycle, the bleach is never dispensed from the tray. Are there any specific settings needed? Thanks Doug

I believe you may have put it in the second largest container (Usually marked by a bucket with a 1 in it), this is for Pre-wash. So you will have to select Pre-wash on the Facial panel. It will then take the bleach first and after washing with it, the machine will rinse and drain it away - and continue with the normal wash and whatever you may have also left in the detergent box.

Good Luck :-) - J.Q

LG Inverter Direct Drive, at the end of the cycle there is a grey -white residue on everything, interior, glasses, pots n pans. We use Cascade packets and Rinse-aid. Please help!!

The packets usually have detergent and rinse aid together, built in. If you also have liquid rinse aid in the automatic dispenser, you are getting a double dose, and that is causing the film. Use standard dishwasher detergent until the automatic rinse aid dispenser is empty, or at least turn the pointer indicator (located by the rinse agent filler) to the lowest setting possible to help somewhat.

Can you put color safe liquid bleach in the bleach dispenser.

Their is no mention of a problem in anything I have come across so far that indicates their would be a problem with using any type of bleach.
As long as it is placed in the correct dispensing tray and the correct amount.

Water left in bleach tray as well as bleach

There are multiple soleoid valves which run water through this tray. The valve connected to the bleach compartment is not functioning properly.

You can see these valves on back top of machine after raising the lid.

More info, let me know.

Liquid bleach tank WM2277HS

Liquid bleach tank? Do you mean the small container one puts fabric conditioner into for the final rinse?

They have a siphonic action. In normal use you put a small amount of liquid into the tank and when the machine starts the final rinse, water is added. Once above a certain level the siphon starts and empties the tank into the machine.

Take the drawer out of the machine, put it in the sink and slowly run water into the tank and you'll see that the level rises to a point then the tank empties.

So, perhaps you are adding too much bleach (or whatever) and the liquid is siphoning out before you even close the drawer.

Or do I misunderstand your problem completely?
