The error message to turn off and back on the camera is just a standard message; turning off the camera will do nothing unfortunately. The lens assembly needs to be replaced, it's about a $45 part or $75 total for the complete repair service. Hope this helps. Thomas Drayton Owner, Darntoothysam.com
Affordable Digital Camera Repair
Whenever I've seen that before it's caused by the camera being dropped on its lens while the lens was out. It can be repaired though it's fairly expensive too, in my honest opinion you'd be better off getting a new camera.
If the camera thinks you have an external flash attached to the hot shoe it will not allow thebuiltinflashto pop up. so you can try this... Here's a very simplesolution I found to get the flash to pop up without destroying your camera. http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1031&message=31993875 the person suggests using a fingernail. (s)he must have long fingernails. I had to use a piece of paper folded in half. Swipe the paper from back to front, as in, from the eyepiece side towards the lens side. What you are seeing is a generic stuck lens error message, turning off the camera and turning it on again will not fix the lens unfortunately.
Your
lens needs to be cleaned or repaired, and if it cant be repaired it
needs to be replaced. There are online places that will do it for a
decent price and there are others that overcharge by way too much.
Fixya rules prevent me from giving you a link to anything off Fixya that would help you fix your camera.
