My asus x550c goes straight to bios when i start it up and wont do anything else

It seems it cannot find a working operating system on any of your devices. Check the order of them it should be hard drive first, if not you can change it work from a CD drive. There are various software facilities that will allow you to create a system restore cd with Linux on, so you can check out your hard drive.

New laptop wont start stuck on asus screen

This just happened to me today. My notebook is the same model. I was logging into a game and all of a sudden it blue screened. After that every time I restarted it would go to the Asus logo screen (I think that's what is referred to as the splash screen but could be wrong). No keys worked. Nothing I could do. So, I called Asus and they had me unplug the power, take out the battery and hold down the power button for 10 seconds. Now it's fine. Apparently it just needed to be reset. I hope that helps. And you have hit f2 or whatever your computer requires to get into the bios settings and set the cdrom drive to be first in your boot order?
