Question about Heating & Cooling

My RLP100/65-85-100,000 keeps going out after 20mins or so. Could it be the high limit? or the thermocouple? it worked great last year. Thank You

Nothing, I'm thinking about replacing the thermocouple and high limit

Pilot lights and furnace starts and runs well, cycling normally, until nearing shutoff time (or if I turn the thermostat down) then the pilot suddenly shuts off with an audible click.

Make sure the thermocoupler is tight this thing runs on propane its not the cleanest burning fuel tends to leave a residue on the orifice
It likely is 24 v DC wired in parallel although it could be the thermostat or the transformer its more likely to be whats called the Aquastat witch is a control limiter for the boiler temperature if this is reading incorrectly at high or low temp its going to shut system down its a safety switch .
Get part numbers and go on line its the only way you will ever find parts for this thing good luck P.S you can also get wiring diagrams on line with model and part #s.

If the pilot light keeps going out, make sure the thermocouple is in the flame of the pilot light,if it is not fully in the flame, then try to adjust it to where it will be in the flame. If it can not be adjusted,to keep from replacing it,take a stick of tubing, steel,or copper, about 3/16 and cut a piece of it out.Just enough to slide over the tip of the thermocouple that will be in the flame of the thermocouple.Steel brake line tubing works great. This piece of steel tubing will last fore ever,or close to it,

I cannot keep the pilot light going. It goes

First you want to look at the pilot nozzle. from the very end it should appear to be "8" shaped. If this is not the case than the nozzle must be replaced. This pinch in the center end of the nozzle is the restricter and allows for an even flame to the thermocouple. There are adjustments for the volume of gas to the nozzle but they should not be changed from the factory default settings. Thank you, Dana

Try to clean the pilot orfice, ive seen even though the pilot stays lit it doesnt have enough millivolts to energize the gas valve.Did you check the wiring really good?

Propaneheater pilotlight keeps going out

If you have a breeze, that can blow out a pilot.  If the thermocouple is weak or ill positioned(the pilot flame not in the center of the thermocouple rod), that will cause it to go out. Mosture or water in with the gas, insolate part of the line or see you supplier about why it would have mosture in it.  I donrt; know anything about additives. I would go with redirecting the outside air to avoid drafts.
I have had a lot of weak or bad thermocouples that caused the pilots to go out . They are cheep . Replace it.

It sounds like the thermocoupler is either not adjusted into the flame properly, or you may have gotten a bad one. The thermocouple is the main thing that makes the pilot work.

Hello

This sounds to me as if your thermostat is not cycling the unit off. But I can see a second problem as well there should be a high limit cutoff to prevent it from running on and boiling over. I would check both. The thermostat is the dial or knob to regulate temperature and the high limit is the safty to prevent boil over or run on.

Thanks

The heater will not ignite properly and the heater will not shut off

Judging by your pics (helpful, by the way) you have a high limit wired into your thermostat wire. Try disconnecting that wire nut connection in front of your valve and hooking the thermostat straight to the top and bottom posts on the valve (eliminating the high limit). If it runs fine, either the connection was poor or your high limit wire is pinched.
