Lg 60pn6500 no picture no sound red stand by light comes on

Hello Virgil Hoppe,

Never ever try to repair these things without a anti-static wrist band...!! (below)... About $6...(very serious).

~~
A tiny spark you might not even feel.. is the PRIMARY REASON every semiconductor box you have EVER looked at says
"No USER serviceable components inside"...

That spark can totally DESTROY almost every SEMICONDUCTOR ever made... Professional
HANDLING will always be done by ESD (electro-
static discharge) trained personnel...

~~

Your POWER BOARD is most likely the problem...
(Red STBY is a really good sign: MOST LIKELY not your
MAIN-BOARD (but still... just an educated guess)).

>> ALWAYS WEAR that anti static wrist strap

>> VERIFY your replacement board number yourself...

> TAKE LOTs of PICTURES (and notes if necessary)
put EVERY wire & fastener EXACTLY BACK...!!

> Force nothing: if a connection does not easily
come apart get a jewelers loupe and a bright light...
Look VERY CLOSELY for a pinch clamp or catch
lever to release...

(don't forget you will need to select a SOURCE
on initial power-up).

You will be proud.

Sears ... shopjimmy.com eBay, even AMAZON HAS
replacement boards... I regularly use eBay...
(but I'm only buying USA circuit boards)

Hope this helps.

Looking for electrical testing meters

"METER" Question
leaves a WHOLE lot open to interpretation...

If you are looking to see battery at the BATTERY itself ...
or even a TAIL LIGHT...

Garden variety METERS might be a SAFE way to go...
(REMEMBERING... the
slightest mistake = air bag DEPLOYMENT (explosion)).

but... (and this is a BIG but)

You CANNOT use ordinary "METERS" on
>> sophisticated electronic / semiconductor equipment...!!

Base line: Only HIGH IMPEDANCE PROBES ...
(LOGICALLY imperceptible) can be safely
( perhaps even effectively )).

OBD (on board diagnostics) have been STANDARIZED
over the past couple of decades to report in INDUSTRY
acceptable DTC (diagnostic trouble codes)...

Behind that... there are the COMPLETELY PROPIETARY
(property)... firmware/software EXPRESSLY owned
(for example VW) with only USER privileges extended...
(right to use) to any/all of their customers.

In the fine print of EVERY RTU I have read in my
extensive careers in STORED PROGRAM CONTROL..

"REVERSE ENGINEERING" has always
(consistently & completely) been FORBIDDEN...

(with Brigades of ATTORNIES to ENFORCE
(or defend... depending on what/who gets damaged)).

So... as to your question about "METERS"... (et al)
Typically those cheap/FREE/promotional digital
meters given away to attract customers to
HARBORFREIGHT (for example)... can be used
to check SUPPLY volts, amperes & ohms...
are completely acceptable...

So LONG AS YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT
YOU ARE "METERING"... (in my humble opinion).

And as ALWAYS... Wear your anti-static wrist strap
every-time you handle ANY semiconductors you
care about (ESD - protection: see below).

ELSE
Expect to be purchasing ($$$$$) expensive
electronics... and AIR-BAGS.. Savvy?

Repair Sony nsx-40gt1 tv, no picture, 2 red blinking lights where normally green. Is the power supply board bad, t-con bad or main board bad. Who sells repair manual?

Hello Eric,

shopjimmy has the circuit boards and gives live support..

Check out the URL below.

Also consider getting an anti-static wrist band... so you don't destroy good semi-conductors with tiny static sparks.

Further information on that is under "ESD"

How to remove exterior card cover so i can install a new card

Dear William,
Best practise: wear an anti-staic wrist-band! Leave machine plugged in to power but make sure that power is switched OFF at wall - (this will ensure that the machine is safely 'earthed'. . Open box cover - there are usually release button(s) to do this. Once computer box is open, connect anti-static wrist-band alligator clip to bare frame. The PCI-card covers are usually attached by one screw/nut: UNDO. Remove slot-cover. Insert new card into PCI-slot. Make sure it is home & replace locking screw. Remove anti-static clip. Close box. Power-up & let Windows find/install new device. I hope that this helps - 'b'ye - Bruce.

Dear Jeremy,
BEST PRACTICE: ALWAYS WEAR AN ANTI-STATIC WRIST-BAND WHEN FIDDLING IN THE BOX!
The human body can store up to 50,000 volts static electricity which is more than enough to fry components. MAKE SURE YOU ARE EARTHED! (1.): Switch power off at wall. Leave plugs in - (this will ensure that the computer is 'earthed'. (2.):Open box. (3.):Connect anti-static wrist-band alligator clip to bare metal frame of box - a bare screw head will do if you can not see any uncoated metal in the box). The password jumper has 3x sockets in a row. (4.):Move jumper plug to other 2x sockets to reset - (blank) - password. (5.): Remove anti-static clip. (6.): Close box cover. (7.): Power-on at wall. (8.): Reboot. If you want to reset a new Password, repeat above steps & move jumper-plug to other 2 sockets...when you reboot, you will be asked to enter new password. I hope that this helps - 'b'ye - Bruce.

I tried to upgrade my acer aspire one A150 to a 2 GB stick of ram - didn't work so reinstalled the 512 stick I had (SHOULD be a total of 1 mb counting the 512 onboard.) It is NOW only recognizing 512. ...

Try swapping the ram sticks with each other and see if it still reports 512. If it does...then it sounds like you damaged one of the seats for the RAM somehow. Did you have any static shocks occur?

Unit will not power on

Howdy howdy...MeisterApple,

Took me a while to find your ENTRY again
(sorry... My fault: a mere few minutes after you asked)...

I had constructed an answer for you... replete with
SPARE parts... and anti-static (ESD) protective cautions.
(ALSO Strong caution against using CHEESY volt meters on
sophisticated integrated semiconductor technology).

My first suggestion was about those
CRACKED batteries...

Get those New/Good batteries away from your
UPS before it ruins another set (of batteries).

I have been UNABLE to find any decent
MANUALS or TECH SPECS.

Try to contact them in ... Research Triangle Park (RTP)
LENOVO (for pats & repair suggestions)
write to:
Warranty Information,
500 Park Offices Drive,
RTP, NC, 27709

(I found NC - RTP folks to be charming & friendly
(but as yet... never helpful or cooperative (I think they
caused the NORTHERN TELCOM Collapse)).

(((Do not expect much help... just delightful banter))).

The actual circuitry of a voltage monitor, alarm
and battery operated inverter is (in principle) fairly
simple...

The NEW prices ARE pretty impressive... but
good UNITS are available.. and you can repair or
STORE your old one for PARTS... As you see fit.

Just ONE major caution... As you handle these
NEAR INDUSTRIAL grade pieces of equipment...

You should seriously consider begging, borrowing or
buying YOUR OWN anti-static WRIST Bands.

Electro Static Discharge (ESD): a small spark
(you might not even feel)
can utterly destroy
any nearby semiconductor it touches...

Careful (professional) handling is critical to the success
