How do I check a thermal fuse and heater with a digital multimeter on my Samsung rb215lash refrigerator?

I moved the dial on different parts of the multimeter but not sure where it's supposed to be or what it's supposed to show.

Hello Sylvia;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service technician.

You need to unplug the sensor. Place the bulb in a glass of ice water. After 10 minutes, Set you multi-meter to the lowest Ohms (Omega Symbol), touch the meter leads together you should get a reading of '1.0' or 'OL' the connector has two plugin ports, with one meter probe on the one port and the other probe in the other port, you should get a reading of 16 Ohms.

You have three sensors, one for the freezer, one for the evaporator coil and one for the freezer:

You have two defrost heaters they are part of the drain assemblies: Once again, set your meter on the lowest Ohms. WATER LEAK SAMSUNG RB215LASH

When water is leaking inside of your refrigerator, the problem could be as simple as condensation from humidity or a worn gasket, especially since you purchased your refrigerator used. The problem could also be a clogged drain or frozen evaporator.

We have a Samsung RB215LABB/XAA refrigerator - the back wall of the freezer is frozen over - how do I defrost?

Well you need to unplug the machine and let it thaw out a day or 2. Then you gotta remove the service panel in the freezer. Then you need to check the heater or heater thermostat. Chances are one or both are kaput. The control might be bad but make sure the cheaper stuff is checked before committing to the more expensive control. I have a Samsung service manual. It might not be the exact one for your model but it will give a good idea what ya need to do. SAMSUNG

Refrigerator cools freezer wont model rb215labp

I know that model very well and I would like to know how long you have owned it and will you or can you find someone that can perform some electrical test fo you. When Samsung made that brand they made a major mistake on the defrost heater elements. They were woven into the evaporator coil. If less that 5 years old it should fall under sealed parts warranty. When I look at a refrigerator from here there are so many possibilities of what is going on that I ask that this is not where to rate my solution. I see that you mentioned the digital controls but are they visible or gone whacked out? Sea Breeze

Freezer frozen fridge not

you will need a multimeter. check continuity thro defrost heater and thermal fuse in series with it. if it is a electro-mechanical timer to control defrost, then this is the most common fault. if controlled electronically and heater and thermal fuse are ok, then points to a module fault.
also if wiring is plug and socket, check these are ok
