My daughter had bought a car off a car dealer (Glen Mayer prestige cars) a few months ago, but was recently stopped by police and the car was reported stolen, Glen has not reported back to us.

Is this in Windsor QLD ? Unfortunately it appears you aren't the first to have trouble with them.

A registerd dealer is required in law to give you clear title when selling a car, although there have been attempts to get around this by selling on consignment, the technique used in a notorious case in Sydney. Dealing in stolen items is of course a crime.

Go straight to the Dept of Fair Trading QLD, who I think will know of this 'dealer', and can advise you, although don't get your hopes up too high.

Is a cracked screen covered under the warranty?

Hi Abby,

Most manufacturers do not warranty "damage from handling, misuse, neglect, accident" as that is not they way their products are intended to be used. Warranties usually apply to defects in workmanship and failures not associated with the list of things above.

This is why 3rd party warranty companies such as "Square Trade" came into being. These companies will offere to extend your manufacturer's warranty to 2, 3 or more years and offer protection from the types of problems they do not cover - drops, submersion, breakage, etc. Cost is based on the product, cost, length of warranty term and extent of coverage. As long as it wasn't stolen - return all the parts of the covered device for repair, replacement or reimbursement. You can also usually insure these products as a special "rider" on your homeowners insurance, too. Contact your agent to learn about the availability and cost of this coverage.

Good luck!

WE BOUGHT A 42 INCH LG LCD TV FROM HONGKONG, TV CAME BY CARGO. TV IS NOT WORKING SINCE THE FIRST DAY. LG SERVICE CENTRE TOLD THAT THERE IS NO WARRANTY. WHAT TO DO. THEY ARE ADDING THAT OUR TV PANEL HAS TO...

Sometimes it is most important that you must check for universal warranty to get the claim. It seems that you TV was DAMAGED on transit and so if this was insured the claim caould be possible.
The TV panel is an expensive part of the LCD and so there is no way out than to replace.
Sometimes it is best to buy locally as prices are much better and compared to the risk taken with not warranty -- specially on large screens when on transit.
Get estimate , try for claim with your Hongkong dealer or insurance company as the last resort.

Has a crack in it (not leaking) i have no picture but have sound

If the screen is cracked then the entire screen must be replaced. Unfortunately the screen alone often costs more than buying the entire tv again, so it's usually best to sell yours for spares and use the funds towards another tv.

You may wish to check to see whether your tv is insured against accidental damage; even if you didn't insure it some credit cards automatically insure products bought on them for a fixed period after purchase
