Question about Sharp EL-1701C Calculator

2 Answers

I have an old Sharp EL-1701C calculator and for some reason can not feed a new roll of paper into the unit? Batteries are new and the feed option works well, just doesn't grab the paper roll to start?

I have trimmed the start of the paper roll to a point like an arrow head. I can see the rubber band rotating around the both 'posts' but can't see anything 'taking/accepting' the beginning of the paper roll into the unit?

Are you sure that you're feeding it by the right place ?? its completely behind. the slit in the opaque plastique (not through the clear one, thats the exit) push it as far a you can then press the papper/arrow button. It should grab it. Press again untill its out.

You may need to cut the corners off a little bit on the start of the new roll and feed the paper in while advancing with the calculator advance control/button

If you can see into the paper feed area, look for some old paper blocking the feed. This is what I found on an old one at church that was set aside. Used tweezers to fix it and takes paper fine.

I have a sharp El 1701C calculator and can't get it to print. It was working but I touched some button and now it shows NP, also an F and a up arrow on the left side of the screen.

My guess is that you are getting a No Paper message and a Feed message accompanied by a directional arrow indicating which way it is to feed. Maybe you can Google (sharp)(El 1701C)(manual) to find out what went wrong and how to get things back to normal.

Trying to put in a new paper roll

Turn off the Sharp EL-1801V.

  • 2 Cut the end of the replacement paper roll for a fresh edge and to ensure a smooth feed. Do not tear the paper roll, as feeding a torn paper roll can cause a paper jam.
  • 3 Insert the cut edge into the paper opening on the back of the Sharp EL-1801V. Hold the paper roll so that the edge being fed into the machine is coming from the bottom of the roll. Turn the power on.
  • 4 Press the "Feed" button until the paper is fed through the unit. Lift the metal paper roll holder up. Slide the paper roll onto the paper-roll holder.

My wife solved it by finding a thin little slot on the back of it where you put the paper in. Worked

Where do i put the paper into to replace a new roll

There should be a small slot towards the back. The paper gets fed from the back bottom, and it comes through the top just behind the display.
IF you take your roll of paper, tear off a fresh new edge, make an arrow point at the end (fold 1 side to the middle, and then fold the other side to the middle to meet the other side) to make the paper look like : " > " then insert the pointed side in the slot, and then press PAPER FEED at the same time. The paper should start feeding and you should be good to go.
