Question about Philips Norelco BEARDTRIMMER Series 3000 Beard and Stubble Trimmer

Open Question

Is it possible to modify a Norelco T-3000 trimmer for corded operation only? The battery in mine is kaput, and I do know how to solder, but I wish I could bypass the cordless operation entirely, if that is an option.

I need to change the battery in a norelco 7864 xl, how to do it?

To replace, you will need to remove the back cover by removing the two screws. You may need to extend the long hair trimmer to get to the second screw. Take off back cover to access inside. There are two metal clips that must be unhooked for better access. You can unsolder the batteries from the circuit board but for easier replacement, it is sometimes suggested that you use a modified installation technique. This is to break the tabs off of the old batteries with small needle nose pliers rather than unsoldering them from the circuit board. This allows the old batteries to be removed but leaves the tabs attached to the circuit board. You can then solder the tabs from the new batteries to the old existing tabs

If you are not able to do this yourself, you can have shaveroutlet.com do it for you. See link below

To open shaver, remove two screws on the back. You will have to slide up trimmer to access the second screw. Remove back cover. Remove snap in plastic clip that obstructs your access to the batteries. For easier replacement, it is suggested that you use a modified installation technique. Remove the 4 screws on the back to take off the back cover. You will have to extend the trimmer to access 2 of the screws. You can then unsolder the batteries from the circuit board.

You will find the correct battery pack for this model at shaveroutlet.com. See link below

Remove the two screws on the back to take off the back cover. One of the screws is hidden by the trimmer so you must extend the trimmer to see it. Once back is removed, remove the metal clip at the bottom end of the batteries. For easier replacement, it is sometimes suggested that you use a modified installation technique. This is to break the tabs off of the old batteries rather than unsoldering them from the circuit board. This allows the old batteries to be removed but leaves the tabs attached to the circuit board. You can then solder the tabs from the new batteries to the old existing tabs

Soldering is required to replace the battery pack. If you are not capable of soldering in the new batteries, you may want to consider buying the item below instead for easy installation

How to open case on Norelco T-3000 beard trimmer

Remove the bottom screw. Next, the on/off slide switch has to be lifted off carefully with a small flat screw driver. Its kept in place with a small spring steel clamp. After you've removed it lift off the steel clamp and remove the slide mechanism by carefully twisting it out of position. Once that's done it will twist open easily.
