It has small spring clips around the base of the pull knob end on the inside of the operator station that must be depressed to remove choke cable assembly

sounds like your choke is not shutting all the way. Throttle pushed all the way up should shut the choke, if you can look into the intake of the carb to see if the butterfly is shut and if not loosen the cable sheath clamp and side the cable until it does shut it and make sure the lever is still in the full throttle position

How do you remove the choke assembly from the handle of the choke on the mower body i have disconnected it from the throttle

The Choke handle/knob is fastened to the dash of a riding mower either with a clip behind the dash or a nut and washer around the assembly. The clip can be removed with needle nosed pliers . The nut can be removed with a wrench that fits the nut and holding the cable with pliers as a back up. After this the cable will come out thru the dash.

Why is my Craftsman lawn tractor so hard to start?

Most likely needs valves adjusted. If you can give model number off of the engine, i can try to find the manual or instructions on how to do this for you.

Riding mower wont run unless choke is full on and dies when choke is shut off

Probably a failed or disconnected fuel shut-off solenoid. It's located on the bottom of the float bowl. Check that there is battery voltage present when ignition is on. If so, solenoid has either failed, or jammed due to gum build-up.

Lawn mower stays running on jumper cables but once disconnected it shuts down when choke is engaged

if it is already running and you "engage" the choke, you will flood the engine with too much gas and it will sputter and die. the only time you engage the choke is to start the engine when it is cold. if the mower dies when you remove jumper cables, and you leave the choke alone, you need to have someone look at your charging system.

Choke cable 3020 won't pull out. seems to be stuck. sprayed with lubricant. no luck

hello,

If you have sprayed the cable with lube you need to make sure the cable is actually freed up you will have to disconnect it from the choke linkages in the engine, if when you do this the cable moves freely then you know the problem is in the linkages themselves lubricate all these untill it all moves freely...

Hope this helps
Kind Regards
Brad
