I put my Halo 3 disc in the console and it started making a sort of deep clicking sound and then it said my disc was unreadable
i tried it with all of my games and it said the same thing

- While playing Halo 3 my Xbox360 started making loud noises so I turned the console off real fast. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and none of my games work. It has to be the xbox, is there anything I can do.- Guest

- i have the same problem i looked inside my console and there was gooey stuff by the disc reader i think the xbox overheats and melts the disc reading device- iwanthalo

- same here...played halo 3 for weeks. all of a sudden, it starts grinding and won't read any of my game discs. It will still read the dvds that I put in though...called microsoft...they want 100 dollars to fix it...- mmraines01

Call 1-800-4MY-XBOX

if your warrenty isnt up theyll fix it for u. ALL you have to do is send in ur system and wait 2-4 weeks until they send it backk.. then it should workk

sucks but its worth it... they also send u a months XBOX LIVE gold membership because thats how long ur not gonna be able to playy

this is prolly the only thing that wud workkk..

I had the error happen also, I just popped the game out, turned off the console then put the game back in. Seemed to work fine.

I sent my Xbox in and had it back in 2weeks .Was supprized that thay fixed it in time for christmas.I seems to be a comon problem,try not to void your warrenty.

if you sign out and back in under another profile, then you can switch profiles during the game

take harddrive off then turn on then off then put hardrive on then try to play

Same problem, everything was fine until yesterday:
1- grinding noise 2- can't read the disc can't use it...no error message.
What's wrong?

my disk dont read either.. just happened the other dayy i left the xbox on. went out for 4 hrs came back and the game was still on. took the game out tried playing a new 1 i just bought and it wudnt even read it.. no error message or anything.. really sucks..

what do i do?

I as well have the same problem, when it first started happening, I heard a loud, sharp, scratching sound, I thought my game was being scratched so I opened up the tray, checked the disk, and put it back in. When I started it up again it did it a few more times, then stopped reading disks entirely, all the response I get is a grinding noise when openning or closing the tray and a few beeps, and all of my disks are in perfect condition, new problem maybe? I have tried the troubleshooting handbook for the dust problem, removing the hardrive, trying an Xbox and 360 game, dvd and music cd, unplugging it, etc.

have a new xbox 360 after playing halo 3 on line for weeks ,all the suden it stoped reading dics .And I have the same noise "like the disc is spining in short bursts.
